Biography

Sergio Orozco was born in January 14, 2002

in San Francis Medical Center (hospital) in
the city of Lynwood, state of California, in
the country of America. He is interested in
photography because he stated "It is a
unique type of art, you don't draw, you
don't sing, you take photos of things which
is pretty interesting. You can do so many
types of photos and edit theme, from
realistic photos of trees to a unique photo of
a person and it can be photoshopped to a
person that looks like more attractive than
what they actually are which is pretty
interesting to me. I chose the topic of trash
because in the city of South Gate, trash is
one of the problems in the city, there is
trash on the streets, sidewalks, and more."
Throughout the project Sergio learned that in
order to take good quality photos, they have
to be in good quality angles.

Artist's Statement
My artwork looks like something that would be something that
comes from professional photographers. The subject matter is
about dirtiness from the city. The title of the book is “Dirtiness
in South Gate”. Some of the elements of design that I used in my
project is composition, as for principles of design I used it’s
emphasis. I used emphasis because it will let the viewer know
what is important.

The media that my artwork is from is photography and digital

media (Photoshop). I take photos at certain angles to make
certain things more unique than what they actually are. I also
take a lot of photos so that I can choose the best one out of one
hundred photos. The photos that I chose will be then
Photoshoped and I’ll change them just a bit. I’d make them look
better but not to the point it looks fake.

What inspired me to do my artwork was of my cities state. It

was in a bad messy state and there is a trash problem in the
city that needs to be addressed. So, I decided that the best way
to do that is to take photos related to trash. I’m trying to convey
of emotions of seriousness because of many reasons. The main
reason is that I want people to look at the photos and think
“How can I help to stop pollution in my area?”.

My goals as an artist is to take great photos. However, my goal

is not met yet, I want to take high quality photos that makes a
lot of people say “Hey, that’s pretty great”. I want to go further
beyond one day. Hopefully throughout the years I meet my goal
and accomplish it. As of for now, I will continue to shoot the
best photos of my capabilities.

I learned a lot of things when I did my artwork. I learned that I

should turn on my camera with and leave it on when I have it.
That way I’m ready to take a photo ready to go. The final piece
is kind of what I imagined it to be. The piece will influence my
future artworks because it was very fun to do.
