2019 GKS for ASEAN countries' SCIence and ENgineering Students

The Korean Government invites outstanding students who are majoring

in the fields of science and engineering at the universities and colleges

of the 10 ASEAN countries. This short-term program is designed to pro

vide students with an in-depth academic training in the science and engi

neering fields and invaluable experience in Korea. This program seeks to

nurture future leaders who will contribute to the development of global

society and further enhance relationship between Korea and their home

country. Students who are interested in this training program are welco

me to apply.

Title : 2019 GKS for ASEAN countries' SCIence and ENgineering Students

Period : July 11th (Thursday) ~ August 14th (Wednday) 2019 (5 weeks)

Number of Participants : 200 undergraduate students in total


Host Organization : National Institute for International Education (NIIED),

Ministry of Education, Republic of Korea

Eligibility

a. Be a citizen of one of the 10 designated ASEAN countries*

* Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and V

b. Be enrolled in the second to fourth year as an undergraduate stude

nt majoring in science or engineering field at one of the 10 design

ated ASEAN countries

c. Be fluent in English

d. Be mentally and physically healthy

e. Have the ability and willingness to adapt to Korean culture and life in Korea

b. How to Apply

① Choose one of the 6 designated Korean universities according to your

major. You can choose only one of the six universities for your appli

cation.

② Submit required documents to the chosen application office.

③ If you pass the document screening, you will be invited for an intervie

w from your application office. Interviews will be conducted by either S

kype or phone.

c. Application Deadline : May 10th.

* Applications will be processed on the first come first serve basis.

② A Copy of the Passport Information Page

③ Proof of Enrollment from Currently Enrolled University

④ Original Sealed Transcript from Currently Enrolled University

⑤ Self-Introduction and Research Plan

⑥ A Letter of Recommendation from an Academic Source

* Note : Additional documents may be required from the university you apply to.

For documents ①, ⑤ and ⑥, you should use the provided template.

NIIED and/or the training institutions will be responsible for round trip air tick

et, room and board during the duration of the program, and traveler’s insur

ance.

※Participants will be responsible for transportation fare in his/her country, visa fee, etc.

a. The program will be offered in English.

b. Students will stay in university dormitories (2 persons per room, mos

tly Korean food will be provided).

c. All lectures/events for this program is mandatory. Participation during

the weekend may be required.
