My best accomplishment of high school

The best accomplishment that I take great pride in is playing basketball throughout high

school. I take such pride in this because when I first started basketball it wasn’t something I

thought I would love enough to pursue over the next three years of

my life. Some of the best highlights in basketball starting from my

freshman year to senior year was in 2016 is when I made my very

first sisterhood. In the fall 2016 (my freshman year) I got to be the

only lower level player to travel with 5 of the Varsity girls to help

our coach work at the Levi Stadium for one of the biggest soccer

games of the season. It meant something to me because out of all

the levels of girls basketball my coach only picked 5 to go but I got

to be the sixth person to go because I showed great improvement

since my freshman year. In the summer of 2017 (end of my

sophomore year)I got to be head varsity coach of a little league basketball program. This was

special to me because I got to teach kids the skills I developed and train them for 8 weeks and

have a big games at the end of summer. That same summer my team and I got to be apart of a

big 3 day tournament at Fresno State, where we learned more communication skills and other

things we needed work on. We also competed twice a day and got to meet some of the star

players at Fresno State. In the summer of 2018 (end of my junior year) all levels of basketball

hosted a 3 day summer camp for the youth of Merced. It was a success and raised us so much

money toward our program. We taught the kids defensive drills, offense, dribbling and

conditioning skills. One last highlight of my years of basketball was being able to help manage a

2 day summer camp in Santa Clara. During those two days I shadowed my coaches and learned

what it takes to be a coach and plan things from start to

finish. My accomplishment in basketball was earned

because of my continuous hard work in the gym six days

a week and practicing on my own time. This specific

accomplishment was so important because it showed me

that if I put my mind to something and stay focused I can

do anything I set my mind to. These are some of the

things that I will

remember for the rest of my life.
