1 Introduction
In October 2016, Utimaco changed the LIMS release cycle from biannual to an annual software release. The
release provided six months after the annual release, formerly known as “II”, is replaced by a so called LIMS
Feature Pack (e.g. LIMS 2017 and LIMS 2017-FP).
The installation of this Feature Pack for the latest major LIMS release, 2016-II, is highly recommended due to
its stability benefits. Even if the new features or network elements will not be used, known issues up until
that point are fixed and resolved.
2 New Features and Enhancements
o New and Improved Database Backup and Restore

o Revised and improved Database Backup and Restore after dropping the focus on tape devices (see
LIMS-G-Feature-Pack-Installation_2016.FP-1).
o Added and moved parameters to Configuration Management to simplify daily backup use via
Administrator System Menu
o New parameter options to specify backup naming schemes, mounting and backup method
o New backup mode “dump” to increase performance and speed
o Fixed Automatic Backup administration. When adding new automatic backup entries via GUI, the
entries were not activated. (SA-G1115)
o Fixed alarms due to reallocation errors during automatic backups (SA-G1004)
o General Features and Improvements
o Improved wildcard searching from AdminSys GUI (SA-G0703). Wildcard searches support:
 SQL-like Syntax (‘%’ etc.)
 File-like Syntax (‘*’ etc.)
o Alphanumeric LIIDs for a target CellID are allowed. Target type Location Based (ECGI) can use
LIIDs based on ETSI, i.e. not only numbers. (SA-G1208)
o Changed “Coordinates” window (SA-G1000):
 Table entry “-1” for Direction or Eci is replaced with “N/A”
 Latitude column is shown before Longitude column
o Limited target index (used e.g. for NOCS trace reference) to 1-65534 (instead of 0-65535). The old
limit could lead to errors during target provisioning on NOCS. (SA-G0619)

o Amended Auditor log filtering to correctly reflect authority assignments. (SA-G1207)

o “ORIGINAL” format supported for GSM HI2. (SA-G0617)
o Corrected values in the “Records Resent” column of the DF Statistics window for Operators, values
were displayed at random and incorrect. The counter is initialized with 0 for new ICDs now and will
likely stay at 0 for HI2 records due to other queue and counting mechanisms. (SA-G1112)
o Corrected filtering for targets in DF Error Management. Target entries in the DF Error Management
window lead to empty search results. (SA-G1206)
o Corrected cases where changing an authority in the GUI did not work. (SA-G0700)
o Blocked generation of ICD reports until all events for a decision are processed. (SA-G0805)
o Fixed unique LIID check issues with column encrypted databases. Once column encrypted
databases were used, the same LIID could still be assigned for multiple ICDs although parameter
Unique LIID = 1 was set in Configuration Management. (SA-G1121)
o Fixed issue with missing error window due to the Bulk Feature license. An error window would not
open once the Bulk Feature was licensed (GUI_BULK) and a target was added to an existing ICD.

o Remote Administration Interface (RAI) Improvements
o Resolved issues with the “/” character and fixed target types in “tmod” commands (SA-G0902)
o Fixed a problem with ICDs which are finalized via RAI. There were cases where RAI command
“icdclose” did not have any effect and decisions remained in state “I”. (SA-G1100)
o Fixed error “Buffer overflow, network list too long” with command “nelist” (SA-G1111)
o DF2
o ERD offline buffering based on directories. Edit df2.ini parameter ERD_USE_DIRECTORIES (default
‘off’) to enable buffering based on directories. (DD-G0701)
o Additional df2_iri_resend_fifo subroutine (DD-G0701)
o Corrected MC deletion checks. When a MC is deleted, the DF2 checks whether the MC is still
assigned and generates an error message if this is the case. This error message was always
generated, even if the MC was no longer in use. (DD-G1101, DD-G1102)
o Fixed IRI resend initialization issues with a data structure already in use (DD-G0803)

 Added option to configure the NEID in outgoing HI2 records according to ETSI 102 232. Edit
parameter ETSI_NEID and set USE_INTERCEPTION_POINT_ID = on in both df2_huim505.ini and
df3_huim505.ini. (DD-G1105, DT-G1103)
 Added filtering via target type. The same target is created twice with the same LIID, once with
PSTN for service NGN and once with TEL_URL for service IMS. SOFTX3000 and IMS v5.05
assign IRI records according to LIID and the DF2 does not differentiate between NGN and IMS
records (it does differentiate between e.g. CS and IMS). In case of PSTN, the SOFTX3000 is in
charge of NGN records and allowed for target type PSTN, while the IMS v5.05 is denied for PSTN.

 Corrected mapping of SIP message header information to “rawLocation” for IMS v5.05.
rawLocation is extracted from either P-Cell-Update (if available, primary source) or P-Access-
Network-Info headers. (DD-G1000)
 Improved interception for already established IMS sessions. New parameters are contained in
HI2, if converted according to 3GPP TS 33.108. (DD-G0705)
 Improved handling of PANI header information. PANI header information is included in HI2
records, converted according to 3GPP TS 33.108 and ETSI TS 102 232-5 (targetLocation).

 Added “Redirection Counter” and “Redirection Reason” parameters for supplementary services. In
case of conversion according to ETSI TS 101 671, the new parameters are converted to ISUP
redirection information. Otherwise the parameters are not in the HI2 records. (DD-G0705)

 Support for both services NGN and IMS on SBC CS v5.05. There were cases where the service
changed after a migration and commands were not accepted anymore. Target flags are used
according to active service, either NGN or IMS. (SA-G1018)
 Added CellID target support, referred to as “Location Based (ECGI)” in LIMS and needs to be
