    This document compares the GDP of India, China, USA, UK and Spain from 0 AD to 1998 AD. It shows that in 0 AD, India had the highest GDP followed by China. From the 16th century onwards, as Britain expanded its colonies, the UK had the highest GDP till the end of the 19th century. The 20th century belonged to the USA. The trends indicate that China and India will likely surpass the USA by mid-21st century. A table and chart are provided to illustrate the GDP and percentage share of GDP of these countries over time.

    India had the Highest GDP followed by China, USA and UK were non-existent in the zeroth Century.
    This speaks volumes about the rich heritage, culture, resources and trade India and China had 2000
    years ago. But at the inception of the 16th century Britain started to expand its colonies and US was
    discovered and people started to settle there. From then Britain had the highest GDP till the end of
    colonisation or one can say till the end of 19th century.
