Sixth Sunday of Easter

“My peace is my gift to you.” In Follow the Way of Love our bishop state: ”As the primary
teachers of your children, you impart knowledge of faith and help them to acquire values
necessary for Christian living. Your example is the most effective way to teach. Sometimes
they listen and learn; sometimes they teach you new ways of believing and understanding.
Your wisdom and theirs come from the same Spirit.” What do we teach our children about
peace, justice and mercy? How do we model conflict resolution? How do they see us dealing
with stress? Do they see us act with mercy? Let’s share the gifts of peace and mercy.

Some housekeeping notes from the pastor:

The tradition of lighting votive candles is a powerful part of prayer and devotion
and is a long standing part of the prayer life and devotion of our parish in intercessory
prayer. Empty spaces are filled by designated volunteers. Please remember to make an
offering of $2.00 for large candles and .50 cents for small ones.
Please remember that bulletin board materials must be approved by the pastor or
staff members. In order to put devotional or other materials in the pews, on the Holy
Hour table, on the book rack, in the pew songbook and card holders, please have the
materials approved first.

Finally, please remember to drop off material for the bulletin by Friday as the
bulletin is created and sent for printing on Tuesdays.

Christ’s Peace!
Fr. David Majikas

Charitable Giving Ideas for 2019 - Did you know that gifting appreciated stock (held more than
one year) to a charitable organization such as Catholic Charities or your parish may allow you to
deduct the stock’s full value and bypass capital gains tax? In addition, if you are 70 ½ or older,
you may be able to reduce your taxable income this year with a gift made directly from your IRA
to a qualified charity such as Catholic Charities or your parish. Your accountant or IRA
administrator can help you understand how the IRA Charitable Rollover works and the particular
steps you can take to lower your taxes and help Catholic Charities, your parish or a diocesan
ministry. Learn more by contacting Sandy Lucas of the Catholic Community Foundation at

How in America did we come to the conclusion that killing innocents without due process was first a
choice and now a right? Thou shalt not kill! The real choice is are we "One Nation Under God?”

through prayer, education, and action, we make Christ effective. Please join St. Augustine Culture of Life
