Before talking about the steps for an export process, we must be clear about what

this means, since the process begins with the presentation and acceptance of a
request for authorization to board through the Customs computer system, which is
followed by the steps indicated below, becomes an export declaration, the process
ends with the shipment of the merchandise. The steps to carry out a successful
export process are the following:
 Process the Unique Tax Registry (RUT) in any office of the DIAN or
Supercade.
 Select the market in which it is required to enter taking into account the
characteristics of the country to which it is going to export, such as
consumer preferences and regulations.
 Have very well identified the tariff sub-item of the product through the
customs tariff or in the Information Center of your city.
 Consult the DIAN if the product to be exported needs prior permits for the
export authorization, after processing them, the application for authorization
of shipment must be submitted to the DIAN's computer system.
 When you have the merchandise list check negotiation terms, you can use a
freight or shipping agent to contract international transport. In the DIAN of
the Port, Airport or border crossing, you can request the Application for
Authorization of Shipment, if the export has a value superior to USD10.000,
this procedure must be done through a Customs Agency.
 There are different means of international payment: bank transfers, letters of
credit, guaranteed letters, Standby guarantees.
 The currencies must be reimbursed through the intermediaries of the
exchange market, such as: commercial banks and other financial entities.
