Ariam since your very 1st day at An-Nur, all day everyday you ask for
bubbles! You sometimes wont go home without the bubbles in your
hand!
Over the weekend I went shopping for An-Nur and found this wood-
en do dah. I imagined that the children would enjoy screwing and
un-screwing it. However to my surprise that’s not
what happened at all! Ariam noticed it 1st, and imme-
diately said bubbles and began to pretend to blow
bubbles! You already knew how to dip the wand in and
then hold up to your mouth and blow gently. You are
using your working theories of bubbles to create dra-
matic play. Your play was sustained for a period of
time and you even included Zacharia & khaled. When
we have real bubbles sharing is a challenge, but it
seems that with pretend play, sharing was part of the
joy! One of the other teachers noticed Zacharia later
calling the toy bubbles in Arabic, (faqaeat) and could-
n't understand why. When I explained it all made
sense!
Ariam, you have added another dimension of play to
your interest in bubbles, I love how you were inde-
pendently able to negotiate sharing. I love how you
were able to inspire Zacharias play too. You have such
an imagination!
Ariam, I will continue to provide familiar and new ex-
periences for you. I will continue to provide open end-
ed dramatic play resources for you to create your im-
aginative play with. I cant wait to see what you will
come up with next!
Children experience an environment where there are opportunities
for open ended play and play without a purpose is valued as mean-
ingful learning.(Te Whariki, 2017)
