What are t he f act ors which causes a widening gap bet ween muslim and
christ ian communit ies?.

Praise be t o Allaah.

T here are many great f act ors t hat widen t he gaps bet ween Muslims and
Christ ians. T he dif f erences in belief bet ween us and t hem do not let us get
close unless t hey give up t heir kuf r (disbelief ) and misguidance, and join t he
monot heist s who believe in One Lord and God, and bear wit ness t hat t he
Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) is His
Messenger, and believe t hat ‘Eesa (Jesus – peace be upon him) was a human
being.

T hese are t he most signif icant deviat ions in t heir religion, which widen t he gap
bet ween us Muslims and t hem:

2. T he Christ ian belief t hat t he Messiah (peace be upon him) is a god
alongside God and t hat he is t he second person of t he holy t rinit y,
according t o t heir belief s.

3. T he belief t hat divinit y may be incarnat ed in humanit y.

4. T he belief t hat God is f ormed of t hree Persons, which is known as t he


doct rine of t he t rinit y.

5. T he Christ ian belief t hat t he Messiah (peace be upon him) was


crucif ied by t he Jews on t he command of Pont ius Pilat e, and t hat he
died on t he cross.

6. T he Christ ian belief t hat t he Messiah died on t he cross as a ransom


f or mankind and as expiat ion f or original sin.

7. T he Christ ian at t it ude t owards t he Jews who disbelieved in Jesus


(peace be upon him) and claimed t hat t hey crucif ied him and killed him,
and t hey accused his mot her Mary (Maryam) of f ornicat ion – of which
she was innocent – yet despit e all t hat t heir at t it ude t owards t hem
t oday is one of support and loyalt y, and t heir at t it ude t owards t he
Muslims who venerat e Jesus (peace be upon him) and his mot her is one
of enmit y and disavowal.

8. T heir dist ort ion of t he Book of God t he Gospel (Injeel), whet her t hey
dist ort ed t he words by changing t hem or by adding words, or t hey
dist ort ed t he meaning, and in doing t hat t hey at t ribut e t hings t o God
t hat cannot be at t ribut ed t o Him.

9. T he doct rine of redempt ion, which is t heir belief t hat God sent His
only son t o redeem mankind f rom a sin commit t ed by t he f at her of
mankind (Adam – peace be upon him), but God was unable t o f orgive
his sin, so He sent His only son who had no sin, t o sacrif ice himself in
order t o do away wit h sin. T his is an at t ribut ion of imperf ect ion t o t he
Lord of t he Worlds and a denial of t he f act t hat Adam (peace be upon
him) repent ed and Allaah saved t he Messiah (peace be upon him) f rom
deat h.

10. T heir disbelief in t he Prophet hood of Muhammad (peace and blessings


of Allaah be upon him), even t hough he is ment ioned in t he Old and New
Test ament s.

11. T heir belief in t he soundness of t he dist ort ed Torah t hat t hey have in
f ront of t hem t oday, which cont ains insult s against God, describing Him
as having short comings, and insult s against t he Prophet s and
Messengers, saying t hings t hat one can hardly dare ut t er, but we
ment ion t hem in order t o highlight t he abhorrent nat ure of t he kuf r
(disbelief ) t hat t hey f ollow. T hey describe God as weeping wit h regret
f or t he Flood which drowned t he people of Noah, unt il His eyes became
sore, and t he angels came t o visit Him – exalt ed be He f ar above t hat .

T hey describe Lot (peace be upon him) as commit t ing incest wit h his
t wo daught ers, and Noah as drinking wine unt il he became drunk and his
‘awrah (nakedness) became visible. And t here are even more f oolish
st ories t han t hat .
