Calculation Report on Post-Tension By Excel Sheet

C1 – Symbols

Le : Cable length from the start of stress anchor to the end of dead anchor (m).
L0 : Length of dead anchor = 750mm.
Lb : Length of dead anchor no elongated when tensioned = 2L0/3 = 500mm.
Lc : Cable length to calculate elongation = 1000Le – Lb (mm).
ΔL : Theoretical elongation of cable by design(mm).
ΔL0 : Theoretical elongation of calibrated cable length calculations Ltt (mm).
E : Elastic modulus of the cable by design = 195Gpa.
A : The cross section area of cable by design: 100mm2.
Ec : Elastic modulus of the cables in the actual construction (Gpa).
Ac :The area of the horizontal cables under actual construction (mm2).
ΔL1 : Theoretical elongation of cable was corrected Ett and Att (mm2).
ΔL2 : Theoretical elongation of cable was corrected after
falling wedge (anchorage slip) 6mm (mm).
P0 : Pressure reducing slack when pulling cable = 5Mpa.
Pf : Pressure when correct designed force for pulling cable (Mpa) = 32Mpa.
ΔL3 : Elongation of the tendon when actual tensile pressure P0 (mm).
ΔL4 :Elongation of actual cable when pulling cables from pressure P0 to pressure Pf (mm).
ΔL5 : Elongation of the actual cables when last stretching (mm).
Δ% : The relativity of actual elongation versus to theorical elongation of each strand (%).
Δa% : The average relative elongation of the strands in cables (%).

C2 – Calculation steps
We have:
L0 = 750mm.
Lb = 2L0/3 = 2*750/3 = 500mm.
Lc = Le*1000 – Lb = 1000Le – 500 (mm).
ΔL0 = (Lc*ΔL) / (1000Le) (mm).
E = 195Gpa. A = 100mm2.
ΔL1 = ΔL0*E*A / (Ec*Ac) (mm).
ΔL2 = ΔL1 – 6 (mm).
ΔL3 = ΔL4*P0 / (Pf – P0) (mm).
ΔL4 measured on the site when pulled from P0 to Pf.
ΔL5 = ΔL3 + ΔL4 (mm).
Δ% = (ΔL5 - ΔL2)*100 / ΔL2, for each strands in cable.
Δa% = ΣΔ% / n, where n is the total number of strands in a cable.

C3 – Evaluation of Tensioning Work

For cable lines ≤ Δ% (± 15) and ≤ Δa% (± 10) is qualified.
C4 – Example
The tendon includes 5 strand length Le = 32m. Elongation design theory is ΔL =
