Discussions: There will be two discussions in the class. Each discussion will be 5% of total grade (in
total 10 %). After the discussion students should write a short paper (maximum 200 words) about
discussions.

Research Project: Students will prepare a video news story (between 1.5-3 minutes), which will
involve a headline and a short explanation (max 100 words).

Short Paper: Research paper will be 20% of students’ grade. Regarding to research question given to
students, students will do field research and write their paper. Research paper should be min
1,500/max 2,000 words; Times New Roman, 1.5 line spacing and it should conform to APA6 citation
format.

The research problem: What are the differences between X, Y an Z generations?

Examples of questions for field research: When they were young (between 17-30) how did
interviewees spend their leisure time? What kind of cultural activities did they do? Did they
participate in any political activities? How did they communicate with each other? Which
fashion trends did they follow? What were their consumer behaviors? What were their dreams
for the future? Which programs (radio or TV) did they watch? Which newspapers did they read?
etc.

Research method: You have to do a comparative research by interviewing 3 people from

different generations (x, y, z). Interviewees should not be BAU students. You can utilize
supplementary materials as photos and newspapers in your study.

The syllabus might be subject to change. It is the students’ responsibility to
