(OCP), or whether it has been on the books for 20 or more years, and just not been noticed.
I have lived in Merritt, in this neighbourhood since 1973: 46 years. I follow the
events at City Hall as any interested citizen should. I remember well the time (3 or
more years) and the thousands of dollars spent on the Official Community Plan, a 20
year plan, which set out the community’s vision to 2030.
It is incredible to me that a completely inexperienced Mayor, Council, and Admin-
istration would choose to change the OCP rather than changing the old bylaw which

When I spoke to Mr. Broderick, he assured me that it would in fact allow for more
densely populated areas within the city. Yes, it would allow for an apartment com-

Ave. (a highway). Yes, parking would likely be a problem as about 150 cars (without
allowing for visitors) would need to be located on this miniscule property. The over-
flow would have to be taken up by the neighbourhood.
When a city develops an Official Community Plan, it is as a guide for future de-

developer with a piece of property to exploit. City Council should not change an OCP
