18 Beautiful Duas from the Holy Quran

Duas, or prayers made to Allah (swt), are the key to being a Happy Muslim insha’Allah. Here are
18 beautiful duas directly from our Holy Quran.

1) Dua of Adam (A.S) to Allah in repentance:

“Our Lord! We have wronged ourselves. If You forgive us not, and bestow not upon us
Your Mercy, we shall certainly be of the losers.” (Al-Qur’an, 7:23)

َ‫سنَا َو ِإن لَّ ْم ت َ ْغ ِف ْر لَنَا َوت َْر َح ْمنَا لَ َن ُكون ََّن ِمنَ ْالخَا ِس ِرين‬
َ ُ‫ظلَ ْمنَا أَنف‬
َ ‫( َربَّنَا‬7:23)

Rabbana thalamna anfusana wain lam taghfir lana watarhamna lanakoonanna mina alkhasireena

2) Dua of Ayyub (Job, A.S) after he was ill for many years:

“Verily, distress has seized me, and You are the Most Merciful of all those who show
mercy.” (Al-Qur’an, 021.083 (Al-Anbiya [The Prophets])

َ‫اح ِمين‬ َّ ‫ي الض ُُّّر َوأَنتَ أَ ْر َح ُم‬


ِ ‫الر‬ َّ ‫( أ َ ِني َم‬21:83)
َ ‫س ِن‬

annee massaniya alddurru waanta arhamu alrrahimeena

3) Dua of Ibrahim(Abraham (A.S) and his followers to Allah when dealing with the idol
worshippers:

” Our Lord! In You (Alone) we put our trust, and to You (Alone) we turn in repentance,
and to You (Alone) is (our) final Return” (60:4)

ُ ‫ص‬ِ ‫َّربَّنَا َعلَيْكَ ت ََو َّك ْلنَا َو ِإلَيْكَ أَنَ ْبنَا َو ِإلَيْكَ ْال َم‬

rabbana AAalayka tawakkalna wailayka anabna wailayka almaseeru

4) Dua of Musa (Moses, A.S) for any good:

“My Lord! Truly, I am in need of whatever good that You bestow on me!” (28:24)

َّ َ‫ب إِنِي ِل َما أَنزَ ْلتَ إِل‬


‫ي ِم ْن َخي ٍْر فَ ِقير‬ ِ ‫َر‬

rabbi innee lima anzalta ilayya min khayrin faqeerun

5) Dua of the people of the Cave:

“Our Lord! Bestow on us mercy from Yourself, and facilitate for us our affair in the right
way!” (18:10)

َ ‫( َربَّنَا آتِنَا ِمن لَّدُنكَ َرحْ َمةً َوه َِي ْئ لَنَا ِم ْن أَ ْم ِرنَا َر‬18:10)
‫شدًا‬

rabbana atina min ladunka rahmatan wahayyi lana min amrina rashadan
6) Dua seeking refuge from the shaytaan:

“My Lord! I seek refuge with You from the whisperings (suggestions) of the Shayatin
(devils). And I seek refuge with You, My Lord! lest they may attend (or come near) me.”
(23:97-98)

‫ون‬ ِ ‫( َوأَعُوذُ بِكَ َر‬23:98)

rabbi aAAoothu bika min hamazati alshshayateeni

WaaAAoothu bika rabbi an yahdurooni

7) Dua of Shuaib (A.S) against his people:

“Our Lord! Judge between us and our people in truth, for You are the Best of those who
give judgment.” (7:89)

َ‫ق َوأَنتَ َخي ُْر ْالفَاتِ ِحين‬


ِ ‫( َربَّنَا ا ْفت َ ْح بَ ْي َننَا َو َبيْنَ قَ ْو ِمنَا بِ ْال َح‬7:89)

rabbana iftah baynana wabayna qawmina bialhaqqi waanta khayru alfatiheena

8) Dua of Yusuf (Joseph, A.S) for Allah to make him die as a muslim:

“The (only) Creator of the heavens and the earth! You are my Wali (Protector, Helper,
Supporter, Guardian, etc.) in this world and in the Hereafter, cause me to die as a Muslim
(the one submitting to Your Will), and join me with the righteous.” (12:101)

َّ ‫اآلخ َرةِ ت ََوفَّنِي ُم ْس ِل ًما َوأ َ ْل ِح ْقنِي بِال‬


َ‫صا ِل ِحين‬ ِ ‫ض أَنتَ َو ِليِي فِي الدُّنُيَا َو‬
ِ ‫ت َواأل َ ْر‬
ِ ‫س َم َاوا‬ ِ َ‫( ف‬12:101)
َّ ‫اط َر ال‬

fatira alssamawati waalardi anta waliyyee fee alddunya waalakhirati tawaffanee musliman
waalhiqnee bialssaliheena

9) Dua of Yunus (A.S) repenting to Allah in the belly of the whale:

“La ilaha illa Anta [none has the right to be worshipped but You (O Allah)], Glorified (and
Exalted) are You [above all that (evil) they associate with You]. Truly, I have been of the
wrong-doers.” (21:87)

َّ ‫س ْب َحانَكَ إِنِي ُكنتُ ِمنَ ال‬


َ‫ظا ِل ِمين‬ ُ َ‫( ََّّل إِلَهَ إِ ََّّل أَنت‬21:87)

la ilaha illa anta subhanaka innee kuntu mina alththalimeena

10) Dua of Ibrahim (Abraham (A.S)) for widom and piety:

26:83 My Lord! Bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous;

26:84 And grant me an honourable mention in later generations;

26:85 And make me one of the inheritors of the Paradise of Delight;


26:86 And forgive my father, verily he is of the erring;

26:87 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected;

26:88 The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail,

26:89 Except him who brings to Allah a clean heart.

َ‫ق فِي ْاآل ِخ ِرين‬

‫( َواجْ عَ ْلنِي ِمن َو َرثَ ِة َجنَّ ِة النَّ ِع ِيم‬26:85)

َ‫( َوا ْغ ِف ْر ِألَبِي إِنَّهُ َكانَ ِمنَ الضَّالِين‬26:86)

َ‫( َو ََّل ت ُ ْخ ِزنِي يَ ْو َم يُ ْبعَثُون‬26:87)

َ‫( يَ ْو َم ََّل َينفَ ُع َمال َو ََّل بَنُون‬26:88)

‫س ِل ٍيم‬ ٍ ‫َّللاَ ِبقَ ْل‬


َ ‫ب‬ َّ ‫( ِإ ََّّل َم ْن أَتَى‬26:89)

Rabbi hab lee hukman waalhiqnee bialssaliheena

WaijAAal lee lisana sidqin fee alakhireena

WaijAAalnee min warathati jannati alnnaAAeemi

Waighfir liabee innahu kana mina alddalleena

Wala tukhzinee yawma yubAAathoona

Yawma la yanfaAAu malun wala banoona

Illa man ata Allaha biqalbin saleemin

11)Dua of the new beleivers whom Pharaoh was threatening to torture for their belief:

“Our Lord! pour out on us patience, and cause us to die as Muslims.” (7:126)

ْ ‫صب ًْرا َوتَ َوفَّ َنا ُم‬


َ‫س ِل ِمين‬ َ ‫علَ ْي َنا‬ ْ ‫( َربَّنَا أ َ ْف ِر‬7:126)

12) Dua of Musa (Moses, A.S) for good speech, when he was sent by Allah to Pharaoh:

“O my Lord! Open for me my chest (grant me self-confidence, contentment, and boldness).

“And ease my task for me;

“And make loose the knot (the defect) from my tongue, (i.e. remove the incorrectness from
my speech)
“That they understand my speech,” (20:25-28)

‫( َويَس ِْر ِلي أَ ْم ِري‬20:26)

13)Dua of Talut (Saul) and his army for victory over Jalut(Goliath) and his forces:

“Our Lord! Pour forth on us patience and make us victorious over the disbelieving
people.” (2:250)

َ‫علَى ا ْلقَ ْو ِم ا ْلكَافِ ِرين‬ ُ ‫صب ًْرا َوثَبِتْ أَ ْقدَا َمنَا َوان‬

14) Dua of Lut (A.S) to Allah for help :

“My Lord, support me against the corrupting people.” (29:30)

َ‫س ِدين‬ َ ‫ص ْرنِي‬ ِ ‫( قَا َل َر‬29:30)
ُ ‫ب ان‬

15) Dua of Pharaoh’s wife when she was being tortured by Pharaoh:

“My Lord, build for me near You a house in Paradise..” (66:11)

‫ب اب ِْن ِلي ِعندَكَ بَ ْيتًا فِي ا ْل َجنَّ ِة‬


ِ ‫َر‬

rabbi ibni lee AAindaka baytan fee aljannati

16)Dua of Ibrahim(Abraham (A.S) for forgiveness for his parents:

“Our Lord! Forgive me and my parents, and (all) the believers on the Day when the
reckoning will be established.” (14:41)

ُ ‫س‬ َّ ‫َربَّنَا ا ْغ ِف ْر ِلي َو ِل َوا ِلد‬
َ ‫َي َو ِل ْل ُمؤْ ِمنِينَ يَ ْو َم يَقُو ُم ا ْل ِح‬

Rabbana ighfir lee waliwalidayya walilmumineena yawma yaqoomu alhisabu


17) Dua of Ibrahim(Abraham (A.S) for Allah to make him a muslim:

“Our Lord! And make us submissive unto You and of our offspring a nation submissive
unto You, and show us our Manasik (all the ceremonies of pilgrimage – Hajj and ‘Umrah,
etc.), and accept our repentance. Truly, You are the One Who accepts repentance, the Most
Merciful.” (2:128)

‫الر ِحي ُم‬ ُ ‫علَ ْينَآ ِإنَّكَ أَنتَ التَّ َّو‬


َّ ‫اب‬ ِ ‫س ِل َم ًة لَّكَ َوأَ ِرنَا َمنَا‬
َ ‫س َكنَا َوت ُْب‬ ْ ‫س ِل َمي ِْن لَكَ َو ِمن ذُ ِريَّتِنَا أ ُ َّمةً ُّم‬
ْ ‫( َربَّنَا َواجْ َع ْلنَا ُم‬2:128)

Rabbana waijAAalna muslimayni laka wamin thurriyyatina ommatan muslimatan laka


waarina manasikana watub AAalayna innaka anta alttawwabu alrraheemu

18. Conclusion

Glorified be your Lord, the Lord of Honour and Power! (He is free) from what they
attribute unto Him!

And peace be on the Messengers!

And all the praise and thanks be to Allah, Lord of the ‘Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that
exists). (37: 180-182)
