found to be physically active
during pregnancy.
The study conducted by
Aga Khan University focused

than  three  per  cent  of  sur-

to 30  m inutes  per  d ay for
sport or exercise.

inflation, adding that it was not
in government’s hand to check
international oil prices.

the government was planning
to provide subsidy to protect
low income people.
He  said  that  the  govern-
ment would devise strategies
to ensure welfare of common
people  and  help  lessen  their
problems.
He  said that the  hike  in
electricity price would not af-
fect 75 percent consumer who
utilize  less  than  300 units  as
the  government would  pro-
vide subsidy of Rs 216 for this
purpose.

prices  would  not  affect  40%

have been earmarked to pro-
vide  loans  to  youth to  start
their own businesses.
Similarly, he said that ag-
riculture sector would be up-
lifted to  help create  jobs. He

Rs925 billion to complete all

ments with China and Turkey
to access these markets.

incumbent  government had
inherited  economy  in weak
condition  as  the  public  debt
was  around Rs31,000  while
foreign  loans  stood  at  $100
billion. Similarly, the reserves
had gone down from $18 bil-
lion to below $10 billion and
export growth remained stag-
nant for five years with trade
deficit  soaring  to  $30  billion
and fiscal  deficit  hovering
around Rs2.3 trillion and cir-
cular  debt Rs38  billion per
month.
He  said  that  the  govern-
ment had taken some decisions
to  stabilize economy, adding

the  government  was  setting
the revenue collection target of
Rs 5.5 trillion for next finan-
cial year of 2019-20.
He said in order to collect
the additional revenues, more
people and commercial com-
panies would be brought in to
tax  net and  no  extra  burden
would  be  put  on  those  who
were  already paying  taxes.
However he said the govern-
ment was taking hard measures
to put more burden on the tax
evaders.
He  hoped that  the  new
Chairman of Federal Board of
Revenue (FBR) Shabbar Zaidi
who was  quite  an  able  and
hard  working  person, would
meet the challenge of an ambi-

Shahbaz to return after
Eid, lawyer tells
accountability court
LAHORE  (INP):  Leader  of
the Opposition in the National
Assembly Shahbaz Sharif will
return after  Eidul  Fitr,  his
counsel told an accountability
court in Lahore on Saturday.
During the hearing of
Ram zan Sugar  Mills  and
Ashiana Housing Scheme cor-
ruption  cases,  in  which  the
PML-N  president  is  a  chief
suspect,  the  court  directed
Shahbaz’s counsel to give the
court a “final  date” of his  re-
turn  by May  28.
Shahbaz’s lawyer told the
court that he will be back after
Eidul Fitr as he has an appoint-
ment with his doctor in Paki-
stan  on June  7.  The  opposi-
tion leader had gone to London
for a “quick visit” over a month
ago to meet his grandchildren
and to undergo a  medical
checkup and has not returned
since.
In  today’s  proceedings,

manded  evidence  to  justify
Shahbaz’s visit to London.

to provide houses to low income groups

scheme, the people of Sindh, particu-
larly the youth, would get business and
job opportunities, economy and allied
industries would grow. He said inter-
est of private sector in New Pakistan
Housing Program is very encouraging
and the government wants to make the
private sector partner in this regard.
The meeting deliberated upon launch
of housing projects in various cities of
Sindh for low-income groups of soci-
ety under the banner of Naya Pakistan
Housing Project. The private sector rep-
resentatives presented various sugges-
tions to make New Pakistan Housing
Program more effective.
The vision of the prime minister is
moving rapidly to raise the quality of poor
people. According to Prime Minister
Imran Khan’s promise, under the new
Pakistan housing scheme the best and
innovative and affordable apartments
would be constructed and the registra-
tion of the project will be started soon.
The time for implementation on the
manifesto of PTI has arrived. The prom-
ise of making 50 million houses within
five years, has been started. During this
year, in the rural areas and cities, four
lakh house and in city suburbs and towns
two lakh houses will be constructed in
one year. The situation in Karachi is
worst, where 40 percent of people live in

the New Pakistan Housing Scheme, the

ments of two, three and four bedrooms
will be built. There will also be an excel-
lent system of water, electricity and sew-
age facilities. Within this Housing
Scheme, where one-step phase houses
are constructed, there will be more than
40 construction industries will benefit,
while employing more than 60,000
skilled people. There are also ten per-
cent quota for the Overseas Pakistanis
in the vacuum. This scheme made on

country’s economy.
We congratulate Prime Minister
Imran Khan for bringing his dream of
providing shelter to the poor to the re-
ality. But at this stage, we think it worth
mentioning that many projects were
launched in the past, including the fa-
mous project of Jonejo regime. But the
deserving and poor people were also
deprived of their right in that housing
scheme. Else, non-deserving and
wealthy people bought the government
offered small homes and then sold
them on expensive prices with their
profit. Even today, anyone can buy any
of those homes. We request the authori-
ties that only deserving people may be
allotted houses in this scheme. Other-
wise, this project will lose its impor-
tance and utility like other projects of
the past. Resultantly, the poor and de-
serving people will be left without shel-
ter like previously.

after  Eid-ul-Fitr and  their is-

ity  (PFA)  disposed  of  5,000
litres tainted  milk in  a crack-
down against milk adulteration

boiler at Faisalabad

FAISALABAD (APP): Six fire
brigade vehicles were called in
to battle a fire that broke out
in  the  boiler of  a  processing
mill  in  Faisalabad  Saturday
morning.
According to rescue offi-
cials,  the  mill  is  located  on
Satiana  Road.  The  fire  was
caused by an explosion in the
boiler.  Following the  explo-
sion ,  the oil  in the  boiler
caught fire and as of 10:15am,
had not been put out.

scene  but  after  taking  in  the
intensity  of the  fire, the  fire
brigade dispatched three more

companies, including Toyota,
Honda and Nissan.
After a bilateral trade deal
has been signed, it will be “a
little bit more fair,” vowed the
president. “With this deal we
hope to address the trade im-
