Don't be "Holistic". Be Minimalistic. Be Realistic.

A recent 7 p.m. conversation with an entrepreneur threw up what I fear the most -
Someone trying to do too much, too soon. The person said, "I want to offer X, Y and
Z and be a Holistic product / service"

Ohhhh...How I detest that word in Business..

What is Holistic? Look it up on Google. It's confusing as hell.

I think its a nice buzz word to throw around on panels and conferences but should
find no application in starting up.

So, the entrepreneur and I argued and my point was "do something so well that no
one else can dare compete or even attempt it. Be minimalistic, be realistic and get
something worthwhile out even though it serves a narrow niche or need. We can
always expand later if there is a need. Leave Holism to the Saints and Doctors."

Dropbox saves pics; Linkedin is your resume; Google helps you find; Uber helps you
travel. Thats minimalistic glory. Uber doesn't help you find hotels and then plan
your sight seeing and arranges for baby sitters. That's dreaming of being Holistic
and that sucks.

Start being a pin so that you can prick. Then we will expand to a hammer.
