1 Introduction
The TFP-3000 is a bi-directional signaling and communication system that is intended
for fireman and emergency forces.
The system works in conjunction with and is supervised by the ADR-3000 analog
addressable fire alarm control panel and adds communication to various points in the
building to the ADR-3000's fire detection capabilities.
The TFP-3000 is made of the following modules:
• ADR-3000 – Analog Addressable Fire Alarm Control Panel
• TFP-3000 – Fireman Phone Control Unit
• TFP-6C – handset storage unit (storage for up to 6 handsets)
• TFP-1 – handset
• TFP-1CP – single phone station (chassis + phone + ADR-806)
• TFP-80C – expansion unit for up to 80 zones / floors
• TFP-806 – socket module for fireman phone (includes socket and ADR-806 analog
addressable module
• TFP-828 – an expansion module for the TFP-80C. Each TFP-828 module extends
the system's capability by 8 addresses.

1.1 Features
• Modular – easily expandable to hundreds of phone points
• Analog addressable fireman points for separate control and signaling for each point
• Faults are displayed on the ADR-3000's LCD panel
• When a handset is plugged into a socket there is a notification on both the
ADR-3000 and the TFP-3000
• Allows simultaneous conversation of at least 5 handsets with the control unit

2 System Description
2.1 TFP-3000 – Fireman Phone Control Unit
This module is installed adjacent to control panel and includes the audio and handset
control electronic circuits (TFP-306M), and up to 3 display modules for displaying up to 8
zones/floors each. This unit includes the master handset.
For additional display beyond 24 zones, use additional TFP-80C units as necessary.
The fireman phone system shall be installed in a separate loop or loops that are
separate from those of the fire detection loops.
Each LED can be associated with a single point or several points that are installed in a
single geographic location (such as a floor, or corridor).

2.2 TFP-6C – Storage Unit

This unit contains and stores up to 6 TFP-1 handsets for use by the fireman and
emergency services in an emergency. The storage unit includes a lock to secure the
handsets while providing quick access in an emergency. The storage unit shall be
installed in the building's entrance and in close proximity to the TFP-3000.

2.3 TFP-1CP – Single Handset Fireman Phone Unit

The TCP-1CP is a fixed single unit storage that includes all necessary electronics.

2.4 TFP-80C – Expansion Module for up to 80 Zones / Floors

This expansion module allows the addition of up to 10 TFP-828 modules. These
modules expand the TFP-80C's capacity by 8 addresses for each TFP-828.
Assign the module’s first address prior to installation by using the PROG-4000 Analog
Addressable Detector and Accessory Programmer. Please refer to the PROG-4000
manual for additional details.

2.5 TFP-806 – Fireman Phone Socket

This socket includes a stainless steel socket for fireman phone, and an ADR-806P
analog addressable unit. It allows either flush mounting or on surface mounting using
the optional TFP-1BB chassis.
The TFP-806 is connected to the TFP-3000 via a 4-wire cable.
Assign the module’s address prior to installation by using the PROG-4000 Analog
Addressable Detector and Accessory Programmer. Please refer to the PROG-4000
manual for additional details.

3 Installation
3.1 Pre-installation Planning
3.1.1 Capacity Planning
Ensure that the ADR-3000 has a free loop or loops, according to the phone system's
capacity.
Allow 24 consecutive addresses for the TFP-3000 and up to 80 additional addresses for
the TFP-80C (8 addresses for each TFP-828 installed in the TFP-80C.
It is recommended that you dedicate one of the loops to the TFP-3000 subsystem.
3.1.2 Cabling Planning – ADR-3000 to TFP-3000
Use two-wire cables (twisted-pair is recommended) 18 to 12 AWG (cross section of 0.8
to 3.3 mm2).
Two pairs from the ADR-3000 to the TFP-3000 – one pair for 24Vdc supply and pair one
for SLC communication.
3.1.3 Cabling Planning – TFP-3000 to TFP-806 Phone Sockets
Use four-wire cables (twisted-pair is recommended) 18 to 12 AWG (cross section of 0.8
to 3.3 mm2).
Two pairs from the TFP-3000 to the TFP-806 phone jacks – one pair for SLC
communication and pair one for voice communication.
3.1.4 Cabling Selection – SLC and Phone Connections
Choose a cable that will be meet the cabling length requirements as per Table 1.

Wire Type Cross Section Maximum Branch Length

2
18 AWG 0.8 mm 950 m 3,130 ft
2
16 AWG 1.3 mm 1,520 m 4,970 ft
2
14 AWG 2.1 mm 2,420 m 7,940 ft
12 AWG 3.3 mm2 3,830 m 12,580 ft

Resistance measurements: Short the end of one branch and measure the resistance
from the connections of the loop to the control panel. Make sure that the resistance
does not exceed 40 Ω. Repeat for each branch separately and for the entire loop.

Figure 3 Measuring the SLC's Resistance

Capacitance measurements: Connect all branches in a loop and make sure that the
total capacitance of the SLC loop does not exceed 1.0 µF.

Figure 4 Measuring the SLC's Capacitance

3.1.5 Cable Planning – Shielding

It is recommended that you avoid cabling between buildings to avoid lightning strikes.
Use shielded cables if necessary. The shielding should be connected to ground through
the ADR-3000's Ground connection or building ground.

3.2 Address Programming

The TFP-3000 is supplied with addresses 1-24 (for the LEDs) and 127 (for the control
module). Configure the TFP-806 modules for addresses in the range of 25-126.
When installing a TFP-80C allow a consecutive block of 8 addresses for each TFP-828.

3.3 ADR-3000 Configuration

Configure addresses 1-24 as Supervisory Out with a separate logical zone for each
address. Configure address 127 as Supervisory Input. Define the other addresses as
Supervisor Input for phone jacks and Supervisory Output for each of the LED
addresses in the TFP-80C.
Ensure that each pair of LED and Phone Jack is assigned a logical zone according to
the zone / floor it represents. You may assign more than one TFP-806 phone jack to
each LED.

3.4 Installation
3.4.1 Mounting the TFP-3000
Mount the TFP-3000 on a solid wall close to the control panel such that you will have
easy access to install the cables and at a height that will allow comfortable viewing of the
indicating LEDs.
Install the optional expansion module TFP-80C adjacent to the TFP-3000.

3.4.2 Installing the TFP-806 Modules

The addressable phone jacks TFP-806 can be installed in a flush mount box or in a
TFP-1BB chassis.
3.4.3 Connecting the Cabling
Remove the TFP-3000's front panel by unscrewing the four screws. Connect the SLC,
24V input, and the firefighter phone jack cables to the TRM-306M (the rightmost module
in the TFP-3000 – see Figure 5 on page 5 for connection diagram). Connect a
grounding wire between the TFP-3000 and ADR-3000.
Warning
! Check all wiring for shorts before connecting.
Adding or removal of devices shall be performed the all power sources
(AC and batteries on the control panels and optional auxiliary power
supplies) are disconnected.
