Description/Comments
 Ms. Casey had a good understanding of the subject and teaching practices. Her lesson was very
planned with proper questioning techniques, grouping strategies, and class discussion.
 Ms.Casey’s lesson was well planned for students to be active and engaged. During the Read Aloud
session, she paused from time to time to ask students how was the character feeling. She used
various teaching strategies like discussions in an interactive style of learning amongst students. She
made students think critically to make sound judgements. Students were actively involved in their
learning.
 She showed confidence to check for students understanding from time to time. Casey made excellent
connections to real-life situations and took feedback from students on the different types of feelings
and emotions displayed on the chart.
 She used proper questioning techniques. She had a chart displayed for students to refer to different
types of emotions. She encouraged different vocabulary for students to make connections. Her
resources were relevant to the story she read out to students. Students could make connections
between happy, sad, confused.
 Ms. Casey had clear evidence by showing students feelings and emotions a character goes through in
a story. She conducted her language lesson in an organized and in a well-planned manner.

Strengths observed:

Ms. Casey understands the teaching practices and philosophy of PYP. She showed confidence to lead a lesson in an inquiry based approach. She understands
teaching styles of grouping , regrouping students during learning engagements. At the end of the lesson she took a feedback from students to check on their
understanding. Overall , students were engaged and enjoying their learning inquiring into communication and ways to communicate . Keep up the good work.

Suggestions for improvement: Ms. Casey should continue to keep herself updated with professional reading materials and PD.
