USCDB modules
Module Name

Description

DPU (Dispatching Unit)

The DPU module can be configured on the USPMU, USPMU3, USPGW, USRSU, USDRU, USCAG, and USPID3 boards.
The DPU modules on the USPID3, USPMU3, USCAG, USPMU, and USPGW boards work in active/standby mode. The
DPU modules on the USRSU, and USDRU boards work in load-sharing mode.

The DPU module provides the following functions:

Provides a service interface for Huawei and third-party FEs, redundancy BEs, the PGW Web LMT, and the
provisioning system.

Forwards IP packets to the DSG or PGW module for processing based on the quintuples (source IP address, source
port number, destination IP address, destination port number, and protocol type) contained in the received packets.

NDF (Network Data Function)

The NDF module can be configured on the USPMU, USPMU3, USDMU, USDMU2, USDMU3, and USPID3 boards. The
NDF modules work in active/standby mode.

The NDF module provides the following functions:

Manages the physical database. The NDF module implements backup, restoration, upgrade, rollback, and password
modification of the physical database.

Monitors platform resources. The NDF module monitors the status of the platform resources, including the disk
array, database, clusters, and disk partition, and reports an alarm when a fault is detected.

DSG (Data Service Gateway)

The DSG module can be configured on the USRSU and USDRU boards.

The DSG module provides services in the downlink control information (DCI) layer and implements communication
between the BE and FEs and communication between BEs.

The DSG module provides the following functions:

Collects and maintains the state of nodes in the DRU and DSU clusters of the BE. The nodes are externally shielded
so that FEs communicate only with the DSG module.

Dispatches the received data access requests to the nodes in the clusters based on the operation type (query or
update), and forwards data access responses to the peer end.

Broadcasts the status information of the DRU clusters to the DSG module of FEs. The status information does not
include the status of the nodes in the DRU clusters.

Broadcasts the status information of the DRU and DSU clusters to other BEs. The status information does not
include the status of the nodes in the DRU and DSU clusters.
DBG (Database Gateway)

The DBG module can be configured on the USPMU, USPMU3, USDMU, USDMU2, USDMU3 and USPID3 boards.

The DBG module provides the following functions:

Serves as the access point to connect to all the DRU and DSU nodes.

Converts the format of the messages exchanged between the physical database and the DRU or DSU nodes.

DRU (Data Routing Unit)

The DRU module can be configured on the USRSU, and USDRU boards.

The DRU module provides the following functions:

Provides the data routing function and stores the global data and routing data.

Locates the DSU cluster in which the required subscriber data is stored and chooses a DSU node from the DSU
cluster based on the load-balancing strategy to provide the data query service or the master DSU node to provide
the data update service.

DSU (Data Service Unit)

The DSU module can be configured on the USRSU, and USDSU boards.

The DSU module provides the following functions:

Stores subscriber data.

Provides data services such as querying, adding, deleting, and updating the subscriber data.

PGW (Provisioning System)

The PGW module can be configured on the USPMU, USPMU3, USPGW, and USPID3 boards. Only one pair of PGW
modules works in active/standby mode, and other PGW modules work in load-sharing mode.

Functions of the PGW modules vary with the work mode.

All PGW modules provide the following functions:

Processes the messages sent from the provisioning system.

Transfers synchronization files between the active and redundancy USCDBs and executes the synchronization files.

Interacts with the FE to process subscription notification messages.

Interacts with the DSG, DRU and DSU modules to update subscriber data, global data, and common data.

Interacts with the physical database to store operation logs.

Executes batch operation tasks.

In addition to the common functions, the PGW modules that work in active/standby mode provide the following
functions:

Processes the messages sent from the PGW Web LMT.

Manages and distributes the batch operation tasks.

DTL (Data Tools)

The DTL module can be configured on the USPMU, USPMU3, USPGW, and USPID3 boards.

Receives the subscriber data exported by the SDMT tool.

Imports the subscriber data to the in-memory database over the DCI interface.

CAG (Convergence Access Gateway)

The CAG module can be configured on the USCAG and USRSU board when third-party FEs are configured.

The CAG module provides the following functions:

Collects and maintains the state of nodes in the DRU and DSU clusters of the BE. The nodes are externally shielded
so that the third-party FEs communicate only with the CAG module.

Dispatches the received data access requests to the nodes in the clusters based on the operation type (query or
update), and forwards data access responses to the peer end.

Broadcasts the status information of the DRU clusters to the DSG module of third-party FEs. The status information
does not include the status of the nodes in the DRU clusters.

Broadcasts the status information of the DRU and DSU clusters to other BEs. The status information does not
include the status of the nodes in the DRU and DSU clusters.
