Manually Installing the Zotero Word Processor Plugin

Word for Windows

1. O pe n the Zote ro installation folde r (usually C :\Program File s (x 86)\Zote ro).

2. In the installation folde r, ope n e x te nsions\zote roW inW ordInte gration@zote ro.org\install,
whe re you you can find a copy of the file Zote ro.dotm (for W ord for W indows 2007 and
highe r) or Zote ro.dot (for olde r ve rsions of W ord).
3. Find your W ord startup folde r using the instructions be low. You should now have two
folde rs ope n: the W ord startup folde r and the “install” folde r containing Zote ro.dotm .
4. C opy the Zote ro.dotm file to your W ord Startup folde r. (Be sure to copy the file rathe r
than m oving it.)
5. Start (or re start) Microsoft W ord to be gin using the plugin.

Word for Mac 2016 and 2019

1. In Finde r, pre ss C m d-Shift-G and navigate to

/Applications/Zotero.app/Contents/Resources/extensions/zoteroMacWordIntegration@zotero.org/install

whe re you can find a copy of the Zote ro.dotm file .
