Statement of Purpose

Dear Immigration Officer,

Understanding and discovering how civil products work, has always been an interest of mine since my
childhood. I have always been curious about construction of different structures. When I was younger, I
would spend hours building complex structures using toy blocks, which is where my passion for
engineering began. At school, this passion for construction and engineering was further enhanced by
mathematics and physics. My enthusiasm for these subjects and their exciting theories is what led me to
pursue a degree in engineering. Today's advances in technology means the products engineers will be able
to achieve in the near future will be incredible. So, I am very passionate to have my career in engineering
field and am honored to be accepted by Fanshawe College to study Graduate Certificate Degree in
Construction Project Management.

In context to my academic history, I have completed my school leaving certificate (S.L.C.) level from
View-Point Secondary Boarding School affiliated to Nepal Government in the year 2010 with first
division with distinction securing 82.25%, higher secondary level (+2 Science ) from Sagarmatha Higher
Secondary School located in Pokhara-Lekhnath Metropolitan with first division securing 71% in year
2014, I decided to join engineering college and completed Bachelor in Civil Engineering in the year 2018
securing 64.42% from Institute of Engineering, Paschimanchal Campus, Lamachaur affiliated to
Tribhuvan University. During my course of study in B.E. Civil engineering I was the most appreciated
student in my class. During my graduate study I got formal exposure to subjects such as Civil
Engineering Material, Building Technology and some initial information about Construction
Management which highlighted the importance of team coordination for quality and successful result.

After completing my Bachelor level study, I immediately joined DIRGHAYU NEPAL from 5th of
December and started my working career as a Project based Part-time Engineer. I worked as a civil site
engineer in different building project under this organisation. My major task was Technical Supervision
of building constructed in earthquake affected areas. After getting involved in working environment I
came to know that studying in college and working is different thing. It is not easy to use the ideas and
implement the bookish rule in the real field and after facing enormous number of challenges in the
working environment I realized I still have to learn more about management program in construction field
and improve my managing skills. As we know engineering field is the field of teamwork and the team
needs a good leader to give better and timely result so, I decided to pursue further education in
Construction Management. At first I thought of acquiring degree course in my own country but there is
lack of plenty of practical education so although we gain theoretical knowledge we lack practical
knowledge. Therefore, I decided to continue my education in such country which provides theoretical as
well as practical knowledge and also welcomes and support more global students to study in their
country.

Thus, armed with the much-valued consent of my professors, guidance of my seniors and careful perusal
of the web pages of the colleges I found that Canada is one of the best countries in the world to study civil
engineering subjects due to high development rate in educational sector. Every year Canada welcomes
different immigrants from world that will provide me the opportunity to interact with people from
different nation and coordinate with them. Not only this safer, peaceful environment and diversified
culture of Canada attracted me to choose Canada.
Through web research I came to know Fanshawe is the well located and one of the best ranked colleges in
Canada. So, I have chosen Fanshawe College to complete my Graduate Certificate Degree in
Construction Project Management. Being part of this college will not only provide me quality
education but also provide me the experience of learning in multicultural environment as Fanshawe
enrolls students from 70 different nations. As my main focus is learning about managing the project
through teamwork, Fanshawe will help me to achieve my goal in shorter duration of time. I am very much
sure that the course content is all what I wanted to learn to upgrade my management skills. However, few
subjects in this course is the main reasons that made me choose this course in a blink, such as
Communication for Construction, Construction Project Management Fundamentals, and
Essentials of Construction. I am convinced that my academic career will receive the much-required
exposure and enhancement enabling me to pursue extensive research and excel at it. I will begin the
program by focusing on the knowledge and skills required to advance to a management position.

Recently our country is being victim of natural disaster and people here are living very risky life so after
completion of my post graduate level in my future career I would like to continue my profession as an
engineer and be one of the helping hands to serve my nation. As the reconstruction project are continuing
in very slow process I would like to join the reconstruction project and handle them with proper managing
skills so that affected people would get the services on time. Different places of historic and cultural
importance had lost their beauty due to earthquake so in future I would like to work to reconstruct them
and preserve our culture. After completion of reconstruction project I would like to work with different
NGOs and INGOs such as UNICEF and UNO that runs various projects for the development of our
nation. UNICEF is currently running projects as construction of schools and health centers in earthquake
affected areas so they will require a lot of engineers with good and safe managing skills. So my major
goal of pursuing construction project management is to help people of our country by successful
completion of construction project with smooth management of project by providing safe working
environment for workers and laborers.

In my experience as a student, I know for certain that good facilities can make a difference in a student's
life and learning experience. I hope you will grant me the privilege of pursuing my Graduate Certificate
Degree in your prestigious College. I look forward to a long and fruitful association with Fanshawe
College.
