III. Learning Experiences

A. Preparatory Activities
1. Setting of Environment
2. Drill
Flashcards
3. Review

Teacher will show the Different Spatial Figures and the students will reiterate the
Different Spatial Figures

B. Developmental Activities
1. Presentation

Robert is fond of fishes, in fact, he knows different kinds of fishes in the sea. Because of
that, his father bought him an aquarium to have his very own collection of fish. Robert
wants to fill his aquarium with water whose dimensions measures in length 15 inches,
width of 9 inches and a height of 5 inches. How much water Robert needs to fill his tank?

a. Ask the following:

1. What is asked in the problem?
2. What are the given data?
3. What kind of spatial figure does the aquarium in the given problem?

In finding how much water Robert needs to fill his tank it will lead us to find the volume of the
aquarium which is in the form of a rectangular prism.

2. Discussion

Definition of terms:

Volume- is the space a thing occupies

Rectangular Prism - a spatial figure whose edges or dimensions are not equal.
Its dimensions or edges can be expressed as length, width and height.

Length tells how long the figure

Width tells how wide the figure

Height tells how thick the figure

There are different kinds of unit measurements that can be used in measuring volume. It can be
in Meters, Centimeters, Feet or Foot, Inches and other standard unit of measurements

The formula in finding the volume of a Rectangular Prism is

V= L x W x h

Solve the problem:

V= L x W x h

V= (15 in x 9 in) x 5 in

V= 135 in2 x 5 in

V= 675 in3

The volume of the aquarium is 675 in3.

So, Robert needs 675 in3 of water to fill up his tank.

3. Group work

Each group will be given a task to solve for the volume of their rectangular prism that will be given to each
group with different sizes or different dimensions.

I – Find the volume of a rectangular prism with a dimensions of L = 14 cm W= 14 cm and h= 8 cm.

II – Find the volume of a rectangular prism with a dimensions of L= 29 in W= 11 in and h= 8 in.

III- Find the volume of a rectangular prism with a dimensions of L = 12 cm W = 7 cm and h= 7 cm

IV- Find the volume of a rectangular prism with a dimensions of L = 11 in W= 5 in and h= 5 in

4. Practice

Find the volume of the rectangular prism with a measurement of:

1. L = 6cm W = 5 cm and h = 3cm
2. L = 12 in W = 7 in and h = 4 in

5. Generalization
 What do you call the thing a space occupies?
 What are the dimensions of a rectangular prism?
 What unit of measurement will you use in measuring volume?
 What is the formula in finding the volume of a rectangular prism?

IV. Evaluation

DIRECTION: Solve for the volume of each Rectangular Prism. Use the correct formula.

1. L=8 cm, W= 6 cm and h= 4cm

2. L=12 m, W= 8 m and h= 6 m
3. L= 11 in, W= 6 in and h= 8 in
4. L= 8.9 ft, W= 6 ft and h= 6 ft
5. L= 11.4 in, W= 6 in and h= 8.1 in

V. Assignment
Complete the table. Find the volume of the following cube.

Dimensions Volume

Length Width Height

1. 8.2 cm 6 cm 4 cm

2. 11.4 m 8m 6m

3. 8.5 ft 5.2 ft 6 ft

4. 18.3 in 12.1 in 8 in

5. 12 m 8m 4m
