COAS endorses death sentence
for retired brigadier, a civilian for
‘espionage, leaking information’
RAWALPINDI (APP):  Chief
of Army Staff (COAS), Gen-
eral  Qamar  Javed  Bajwa  on
Thursday  endorsed  punish-
ment  to  two  army  and  one
civil officer on the charges of
espionage/leakage  of  sensi-
tive  information  to  foreign
agencies prejudice to the na-
tional security.
A  three-star  army  gen-
eral has been sentenced to 14
years  in  jail,  and  a  brigadier
awarded the death sentence on
charges  of espionage  by  mili-
tary  courts  in  separate  cases.
A doctor associated with
a “sensitive  organisation” has
also  been  handed  the  capital
punishment on similar charges.

Qureshi Thursday called upon
the  Organization  of  Islamic
Cooperation (OIC) to send its
fact-finding  mission  to  Indian
occupied Kashmir (IoK) to in-
vestigate  the gross  human
rights violations.

Jammu and Kashmir in
Jeddah, he  stressed an in-

NORTH WAZIRISTAN
(Online): Mohsin Dawar who
attacked Army  check  posts in
Boya has been arrested. Dawar
along with his accomplices in-
cluding  Ali  Wazir  attacked
Army  check  post  on  May  26
during  which  one  Pak Army
soldier was martyred while five
others  sustained  injuries.  In
Pak Army  retaliatory  firing,  3
terrorists were  killed  while 10
others got injured. Security forces
had arrested Ali Wazir and  his

ISLAMABAD (APP): The Oil
and Gas Regulatory Authority
(OGRA) Thursday  forwarded
a  summary  to  the  Petroleum
Division to revise prices of POL
products for the month of June.
According  to  the  sum-
mary,  the  authority  has  pro-
posed 8.99 percent increase in
per  liter  price  of High  Speed
Diesel  from Rs  122.32  to  Rs
131.31,  around  8.53  percent
raise in per liter price of Motor
Spirit Oil from Rs 108.42 to Rs
116.95,  while  1.69  percent
surge in per liter price of Kero-
sene  oil  from Rs 96.77  to  Rs
98.46  and  1.68  percent  in-
crease in price of Light Diesel
Oil from Rs 86.94 to Rs 88.82.

lateral talks  of  Pakistan, Tur-
key and Malaysia took place on
the  sidelines  of  the  ongoing
meeting of the OIC Council of
Foreign Ministers in Jeddah on
Thursday.  Foreign Minister
(FM) Shah Mehmood Qureshi
represented  Pakistan  while
Turkey and Malaysia were rep-
resented by their respective for-
eign ministers. The talks were
aimed  at  reviewing  OIC  Re-
forms  agenda  and  presenting
one’s own stance on further re-
activating  OIC.  The  trilateral
meeting was held at the request
of Turkey Pakistan is fully alive

stand firm for judiciary’s

ister  Nawaz  Sharif on  Thurs-
day  urged  Pakistan  Muslim

judiciary’s  freedom,  protec-
tion, and defence, according to

On the way to
deprivation
The list of atrocitie s on the pe ople of with
Baluchistan is quite long. Due to which the secu-
rity of nation and country is on stake. The most
benefits and advantages of that sense of depriva-
tion has been taken by enemy India. Today, our
subject is Justice Qazi Faez Isa, Honourable Judge
of Supreme Court of Pakistan, who attained his
position purely on his ability and merit. He be-
longed to Pishin, a rural area of Baluchistan, his
father Qazi Muhammad Isa was a Pakistani poli-
tician and one of the prominent leaders of the
Pakistan Movement and a known activist along
with Qaid-e-Azam. He participated in the forma-
tion of the first Muslim political party in Paki-
stan, (Muslim league) Baluchistan before 1947.
He was from a sunni Hazara tribe of Sheikh Ali,
who migrated from Afghanistan Kandahar to dis-
trict Pishin, Baluchistan, Pakistan. His father Qazi
Jalal-ud-Din was Qazi of Kandahar. After British
interference they moved to Pishin. Qazi Isa had
studied at Sandyman High School and Govern-
ment High School in Quetta, and then went on to
England for higher education. “After having been
called to Bar in January 1939, he returned home
and met Quaide-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah
in Bombay. He was so impressed with his ideas
and personality that on his return to Baluchistan,
he founded the All-India Muslim League in his
province.” He played a key role in the Pakistan
Movement and was one of the trusted lieuten-
ants of Muhammad Ali Jinnah. He was the young-
est member of the Working Committee of the All-
India Muslim League and as President of the
Baluchistan Provincial Muslim League, he quickly
organized the party throughout the province and
played a key role in the ‘Vote for Pakistan move-
ment’ and in the historical referendum of the then
North-West Frontier Province. Qazi Isa travelled
more than 300,000 miles to campaign for the Pa-
kistan Movement between 1940 and 1947. He rep-
resented Baluchistan in the 1940 Lahore Reso-
lution commonly known as the Pakistan. His
nephew, Ashraf Jehangir Qazi, has been a Paki-
stani High Commissioner in India, Pakistan’s Per-
manent representative in UNO and UN Secretary
General Special Representative in Iraq. Qazi
Muhammad Isa died on 19 June 1976. “Qazi Isa
devotedly served the Muslim League for 37 years.”
Among his survivors are some notable Pakistani
personalities. One of them is his son Justice Qazi
Faez Isa who is a judge at the Supreme Court of
Pakistan and a nephew Ashraf Jehangir Qazi who
has held many prominent diplomatic positions in
the service of Pakistan. Qazi Muhammad Isa him-
self also had served as Pakistan’s Ambassador to
Brazil from 1951 to 1953.
Justice Isa was called to the Bar of England
and Wales (Middle Temple, 1982) and enrolled as
an advocate of the Baluchistan High Court and
as an advocate of the Supre me Court from
Baluchistan. He practiced law for over 27 years
before all the High Courts of Pakistan, the Fed-
eral Shariat Court and the Supreme Court of Pa-
kistan. He became a member of the Baluchistan
High Court Bar Association, Sindh High Court Bar
Association and Life Member of the Supreme Court
Bar Association of Pakistan. Before Justice Isa’s
elevation to the High Court he was a senior part-
ner and head of litigation in one of Pakistan’s lead-
ing law firms. He rendered his services as am-
icus curiae when called upon by the High Courts
and Supreme Court of Pakistan and had also con-
ducted international arbitrations. He also served
on board of the largest bank of Pakistan, of the
Security and Exchange Commission of Pakistan
and of the Quaid-e-Azam Mazaar Management
Board. Prior to his elevation Justice Isa regularly
wrote on the Constitution, Law, Islam and Envi-
ronment and his articles were published in Paki-
stan premier English newspaper. He also co-
authored the book: “Mass Media Laws and Regu-
lations in Pakistan” and authored the Report:
“Baluchistan: Case and Demand”. After the proc-
lamation of emergency of November 3, 2007, he
elected not to appear before judges who had vio-
lated their oath. Subsequently, after the Supreme
Court declared the action of November 3, 2007
unconstitutional, all the then judges of the High
Court of Baluchistan tendered their resignation,
and on August 5, 2009 Justice Isa was directly
elevated to the position of Chief Justice of the
High Court of Baluchistan. At the time of his el-
evation Justice Isa was the solitary judge in the
High Court, he nominated judges all of whom were
confirmed and thus reestablished the High Court
of Baluchistan. He reopened the High Court at
Sibi which had remained closed for a number of
years, and acquired land for the construction of
the High Court at Turbat and approved the design
of its building. He then went on to upgrade all the
courts in Baluchistan focusing on facilitating ac-
cess and providing facilities to the public. Justice
Isa introduced a system of transparent induction
of officials and officers in the High Court after
advertising such posts.  During his tenure a large
number of vacant judicial posts in the subordi-
nate judiciary were filled after advertising them
and each applicant had to sit for a series of ex-

against him for alleged foreign assets on the name
of his wife. We oppose the current move of the
Government against Justice Qazi Faez Isa and
believe that if any such action is taken against
the Qazi Faez Isa, the government may face se-
vere resistance in Baluchistan.
