OUTLINE FOR PERSUASIVE SPEECH

Specific purpose : To persuade the audience to ban the use of plastic bottles.
Central idea : Lesser use of plastic bottles will save the earth.
Method of organization : Monroe’s motivated sequence

Introduction

From the articles that I have read from the internet, we're now at a million plastic bottles per minute
- 91% of which are not recycled. Every person has used a plastic bottle, many of whom likely used
one in the past day or week. Plastic, in the recent decades, has become a staple of convenience and
a modern lifestyle but did you know that the plastic bottles will pollute the environment? Many of
marine life died because of the plastic bottles that have been used by the human. For example, the
sea turtle which is the marine life that has been driven to extinction because it has mistaken plastic
waste for a viable food source. This will cause the blockages in their digestive system. Before this
problem become worst, I would like to persuade government and the audience to ban the use of
plastic bottles.

Body

Need

The needs to ban plastic bottles.

1. A growing wasteland
i. The plastic bottles become garbage and the number of bottles increases that end up
in the landfills.
ii. Each bottle need hundred years to decompose.

2. Energy consumption
i. According to the National Geographic, the energy required to manufacture, transport
and dispose of plastic water bottles is between 15-17 million barrels of oil (enough to
fuel more than 100,000 cars for an entire year) are used each year to meet consumer
demands.
ii. The energy required to produce plastic bottles including all stages from manufacturing
the plastic to chilling the bottles for use is higher than produce tap water.

3. Harmful chemical
i. Polycarbonate plastic is used to make some of the plastic bottles.
ii. According to healthnews.org, the chemical compounds released by these plastics can
alter hormones and have other potential human health effects.

Satisfaction

The ways to reduce the use of plastic bottles.

1. Bring your own (refillable) bottle with you to work

i. People do not have to purchase water by bringing refillable water bottle and it also
can remain us hydrated all day.
ii. Landfill contributions will be decrease and it also protect ourselves from harmful
chemicals.

2. If you’re a fast food vendor selling plastic bottles, make sure you have adequate recycling
facilities located in or near your shop.
i. Recycle bins that has been provided by you can help your customers easier make
the move to throw the plastic bottles.
ii. The plastic bottles also will be easier to recycled.

3. Try switching to glass bottles

i. People love the convenience of bottled water
ii. Glass bottles are much easier to wash many types and will retain their clarity
without leaking toxic chemicals are much easier to clean.
Visualization

Benefits of banning plastic bottles.

1. Go Green.
i. This is one of the greatest campaigns ever to be used in addressing issues of
pollution. The world as it is at the moment is headed to a point of destruction due
to different forms of pollution. Go green is an initiative that will ensure that any
form of pollutant including plastic is banned and a sustainable alternative is put in
place to ensure global warming is kept at bay.

2. Save Money.
i. We have used a lot of money to buy mineral water than using refillable bottles.
ii. An alternative of using tap water will bring the reality of too much expenditure on
plastic water bottles and this will save a lot of money.

3. Save Aquatic Life.

i. Many people who do not feel responsible with their action will disposed of in the
ocean or the sea and it will lead to great pacific garbage patch.
ii. The number of aquatic life will be higher than the quantity of garbage if the uses of
plastic bottles will be banned and human always recycled the plastics bottles.

Conclusion

As a conclusion, we can summarize that most people in the world feel convenient using
the plastic bottles but it should be banned because it will make our world become polluted and it
also give risk to our health and also to aquatic life. We should recycle the plastic bottles after used.
We also should use plastic bottle once only to avoid toxic chemicals enter to our body. The tap
water also should be provided everywhere to encourage people to use refillable bottle than plastic
bottles.

ORAL PRESENTATION

PERSUASIVE SPEECH

Assalamualaikum and a very good afternoon I wish to Madam Rusilawati and my fellow
friends. Today, I would like to present about the topic that I have choose which is Lesser the Use
of Plastic Bottles will Save the Earth. From the articles that I have read from the internet, we're
now at a million plastic bottles per minute - 91% of which are not recycled. Every person has used
a plastic bottle, many of whom likely used one in the past day or week. Plastic, in the recent
decades, has become a staple of convenience and a modern lifestyle but did you know that the
plastic bottles will pollute the environment? Many of marine life died because of the plastic bottles
that have been used by the human. For example, the sea turtle which is the marine life that has
been driven to extinction because it has mistaken plastic waste for a viable food source. This will
cause the blockages in their digestive system. Before this problem become worst, I would like to
persuade government and the audience to ban the use of plastic bottles.

Let’s we start with the needs to ban plastic bottles.

As you can see, one of the most impact s of plastic bottles is what happens after the water
has been consumed. A growing of wasteland is my first point for the needs to ban plastic bottles.
The plastic bottles become garbage and the number of bottles increases that end up in the landfills.
Each bottle can take hundred years to decompose. The second point is, energy consumption.
According to National Geographic, the energy required to manufacture, transport and dispose of
plastic water bottles is between 15-17 million barrels of oil (enough to fuel more than 100,000 cars
for an entire year) are used each year to meet consumer demands. The energy required to produce
plastic bottles including all stages from manufacturing the plastic to chilling the bottles for use is
higher than produce tap water. The last point for the needs to ban plastic bottles is harmful
chemicals. Polycarbonate plastic is used to make some of the plastic bottles. According to
healthnews.org, the chemical compounds released by these plastics can alter hormones and have
other potential human health effects.

Next, we go to the ways to prevent or reduce the uses of plastic bottles.

What we need to do to ban these problems is by bring refillable bottles everywhere we

want to go. People do not have to purchase water by bringing refillable water bottle and it also can
remain us hydrated all day. Landfill contributions will be decrease and it also protect ourselves
from harmful chemicals. Besides that, if you’re a fast food vendor selling plastic bottles, make
sure you have adequate recycling facilities located in or near your shop. Recycle bins that has been
provided by you can help your customers easier make the move to throw the plastic bottles. The
plastic bottles also will be easier to recycled. Furthermore, we also can try switching to glass
bottles. People love the convenience of bottled water. Glass bottles are much easier to wash many
types and will retain their clarity without leaking toxic chemicals are much easier to clean.

Last but not least are the benefits banning the plastic bottles.

From my point of view, there are many benefits that we can get from banning plastic bottles
which is our earth will become Green. This is one of the greatest campaigns ever to be used in
addressing issues of pollution. The world as it is at the moment is headed to a point of destruction
due to different forms of pollution. Go green is an initiative that will ensure that any form of
pollutant including plastic is banned and a sustainable alternative is put in place to ensure global
warming is kept at bay. Others benefit is, save money. We have used a lot of money to buy mineral
water than using refillable bottles. An alternative of using tap water will bring the reality of too
much expenditure on plastic water bottles and this will save a lot of money. An important benefit
to save our earth from banning the use of plastic bottles is it will save aquatic life. Many people
who do not feel responsible with their action will disposed of in the ocean or the sea and it will
lead to great pacific garbage patch. The number of aquatic life will be higher than the quantity of
garbage if the uses of plastic bottles will be banned and human always recycled the plastics bottles.

As a conclusion, we can summarize that most people in the world feel convenient using
the plastic bottle but it should be banned because it will make our world become polluted and it
also give risk to our health and also to aquatic life. We should recycle the plastic bottles after used.
We also should use plastic bottle once only to avoid toxic chemicals enter to our body. The tap
water also should be provided everywhere to encourage people to use refillable bottle than plastic
bottles.

That all from me.
