Get your electrical wiring done by licensed Contractors/ Electricians only and check wiring
periodically.
Use good/ standard quality Appliances/ Equipments only.
Use the correct size and quality of fuse wire. Never use higher capacity as it will fail to serve its
purpose.
Use Appliances/ Equipment with 3 pin plugs and connect them to 3 pin sockets only.
Connect only one Appliance / Equipment to one socket.
Never place bare wire ends in a socket.
Avoid using temporary electrical connections and extensions.
Avoid joints in wiring. If unavoidable, make joints by means of non-conductive connectors.
Do not allow wires to overhang. Support them with guide wires and avoid sharp bends.
While cutting and stripping outer covering of cables, ensure that insulation of inner conductor is not
damaged.
Check cable insulation of nicks, cuts, abrasions and crushing.
Be sure all Electrical Appliances/ Equipment are in perfect working condition before using them.
Defective Electrical Fixtures, Appliances and Equipment must be replaced or repaired by a competent
Electrician.
Wires must not be strung over water taps, nails, through doorways or put under mats, carpets etc. Make
sure that plugs fit properly in the sockets.
Never operate any Electrical Appliances with wet hands, or in wet clothes or shoes.
See that small children do not poke fingers, sticks, pencils etc into plug holes,
Never leave an Electrical Gadget in operation un-attended.
Always remember to switch off Appliances/ Equipment after use. When leaving for a holiday, turn off
the main switch.
The wrong use of Electrical Equipment is a very common cause for fires.
Electrical heating Appliances like Ovens, Heaters, Irons and Geysers need special precautions.
Always read and obey warning signs.

Install warning board ‘DO NOT SWITCH ON’, ‘MAN WORKING ON LINE’ on all isolated
switch gear.
Do not take any risk what so ever, if in doubt, consult your supervisor.
Before switching ‘OFF’ information must be pass on to the concerned Persons/ Depts., where essential
or continuous, electric supply is must.
Similarly while switching ‘ON’, the power after completion of Job, all users should be informed for
the safety of persons and Equipment, either by personal or telephone.
WORK ON HIGH TENSION INSTALLATIONS OF 400V AND ABOVE MUST BE CARRIED
OUT ONLY AFTER OBTAINING WORK PERMIT.
