Objective #1: I will retell one of the scenes in the novel Esperanza Rising.
STEP #2 - Make a DDAT chart for all of the characters in the scene you
have chosen. Type the chapter in which the scene takes place and the
page numbers. Write the page number where you got the information that
you are writing on the DDAT Chart. (Example: If you are saying that
Esperanza is a rich young woman, find me the page that gives this
information. Type the page number in your chart in parentheses. (For
example: (310). )

STEP #4 - Type this question and answer the question. (10 minutes)
How would you go about or START doing your PROJECT? Give FIVE
STEPS. You may use BULLET POINTS.
Comic strip
● Materials: blank paper, pencil
● For coloring, your choices are:
COLORED PENCILS
CRAYONS
MARKERS
For anything else, I need a NOTE from your parents. I will let them know you had
other choices.
Short Story
● Materials: GoogleDocs
● Need SETTING, PROTAGONIST, ANTAGONIST (if they are in the scene), and
ANY OTHER IMPORTANT CHARACTERS IN THE SCENE,
● Need DESCRIPTION, DIALOGUE (in QUOTATION MARKS), ACTIONS , and
THOUGHTS or INTERIOR MONOLOGUE (in QUOTATION MARKS)

FORMULA for GOOD GRADE:
TOOLS for GOOD, QUALITY work + GOOD QUALITY WORK = GOOD grade
STEP #5 Based on what you chose for step #4, follow the directions below:
2) Your comic strip will have to have at least ten PANELS with a
SPEECH BUBBLE for DIALOGUE or a THOUGHT BUBBLE for
THOUGHTS.

3) Your Comic Strip must cover ALL the important items that you put
in your DDAT chart.
5) You will put the HEADING on the BACK of the page. This will be
for ELA Language, Reading, and Spelling
2) Your short story should be at least one page and must include
DIALOGUE, DESCRIPTION, ACTIONS, and THOUGHTS. If you are
going to use the exact words or DIALOGUE, put them in
QUOTATION MARKS.
