Action Plan

The current objective of this project is to spread awareness across the United States of how our
stagnant population will affect our, the US citizens, present and future. Everyone in the US
should participate in this campaign as it affects everyone, not just the older generations. If the
population continues to decline, that will mean there will be less support (jobs, elderly care,
government) throughout the nation which will cause the country’s economy to decline unless
there is help from an outside factor or an inside solution such as changing of laws and or social
habits/morals.
There have been many possible solutions to solving America’s stagnant population which are
highly controversial such as restricting abortions (with exceptions), preventing the selling of birth
control (pills, IUD, condoms), forcing those without children or with an only child to pay higher
taxes, and many more solutions that don’t appeal to certain demographics. As there have been
multiple causes to this problem: lower birth rates, higher percentages of citizens going for further
education, more women in the workplace, societies mindset shift, immigration, etc. If there isn't
a change in one or some of these causes, then there will be a great decline in the US’
population. Some people may ask, “isn’t the smaller population a good thing?” while yes it does
sound like a good idea (less carbon emissions, less pollution and more job opportunities), a
smaller population also comes with a price. Social security, a larger elderly population,
companies, and organizations will falter if there is no support from the citizens, causing many of
them to shut down unless there is an economical inflation.
