Birds

Take a walk through an avaion section in a zoo and see all the flying creatures. Every bird

is unique. Some will have beautiful colors to attract mates, while others have long beaks that

accomplish the same job. No matter how common the bird is you can see their survival instincts

show loud and clear by where they fly based on weather patterns. Even the simplest of birds have

that level of knowledge. Birds show us knowledgeable things about human’s short lifespan,

standing out, and being ambitious.

Some species of sparrow live in North America while others live in Europe. They live for

about three years. Sparrows can also be taken as a symbol for being content and simple because

of how common they are and how short their lifespan is. The woodpecker’s average life span is

around 4-30 years depending on the species. They peck holes at a fast motion into trees to get the

insects out of them. The majority of the time the colors are black and red with no easily-seen

difference between male to female.

The sparrow and woodpecker can be seen as a representation of us humans. Maybe it's

for a good reason too. People tend to think they are extremely special by themselves, and can do

anything they want within reason. Even though showing humans the simplicity of life through

animals more alike to us than different can be hard. Most people wouldn’t want to believe bad or

annoying things that are right in front of their eyes. The woodpeckers shows how hard some

people work for their food. The sparrow can show how simple some day-to-day lives are. Maybe
a more knowledgeable being could’ve set birds with this purpose.

The peacock is a kind of bird that people tend hear a lot about. Peacocks are large birds

with giant tail feathers. They are deemed exotic and can be found mostly in zoos if you live in

North America. Peacocks tend to be very colorful and obnoxious to help find themselves a mate.

They live for about 10-25 years. They love attention, and in return attention loves them back.

They’ve achieved so many good things from being out in the open like that. Some humans are

the same way. Rockstars and Pop singers with their screaming and adoring fans. Peacocks will

be loud and find people that adore them for doing just that.

Parrots can learn to speak and mimic other humans or sounds they hear. They’re able to

learn full sentences. They can sport colors from red to grey and live for up to 80 years.

Ornithologists can find many out in the wild but many can be also seen as house pets. Parrots are

loud and very, very needy. Already a few humans come to mind when thinking of this brightly

colored animal. The Kardashians or Cardi B. They dance or fly around with flamboyance. The

results are great, seeing as they’re kept as housepets. Yet again people love this bird for standing

out.

Seagulls are often found along shores or beaches. More often than not more people see

seagulls flying together in a huge pack rather than alone. They tend to live for around 4-45 years

depending on the species. They hunt from human’s trash or find bugs to eat. Other types of

seagulls eat their young for sustenance. Seagulls take what they want and run with it. They’re

incredibly ambitious and self assured animals. Some people are the same way. The politicians

taking what they want and running to their goal. Some school council members grabbing the lead

and pulling themselves to victory.

A certain type of menace is the crow. Crows are mostly seen as mean-spirited animals
who steal from farms. Humans tend to take it in the worst way possible, but their main source of

food is from farm crops. They’re seen to mimic or annoy other humans to the extent that a

scarecrow was created and is still used to keep them away today. Crows live from 7-22 years

depending on its species.

Since crows are seen as an unsightly animal it would show the criminal sense.People

often find ways to make it seem like they need what they’ll get out of this crime, called

techniques of neutralization. “He won't miss the money” is an often one seen with poor robbers,

or a denial of injury. This could be a connection to crows and why they take the food. Crows are

also one of the smartest types of birds. They can remember a humans face, tell the rest of it's

murder, and go attack the person. Not much is said on crows brains, as they’re very different

from ours.

All of these birds could be taken as a representation of us humans. In my mind all birds

have a form of work they do. Whether it be going out to work for food, or migration before

winter. That is a form of work, just like attending school counts as work. Birds don’t have

specified assignments everyday, or topics to cover. That doesn’t mean they don’t have work.

Many birds don’t end up living long, but they might think it's long for them. Humans live

to around 70 years as the average and think that that’s a long time. Maybe the birds are showing

humans to have fun with the time they have because it's not as long as we think. Or they could

just be birds living their lives like birds do.
