TVUSD ELA 10 Benchmark: Rhetorical Synthesis

[INTRO] The extent humans pay for the ease and comfort of technology is more of a lost

than a win. Some might see technology as has great thing ignoring the fact that people are

continually scrolling through out the night slowly becoming more addicted. Ever since the

1970’s technology has always brought up the question, which are be seen as consveral, new

technical devices becoming beneficial or hurting society. With new research, sadly it has been

prove that technology is greatly affecting society. Everytime technology starts to grow it also

spreads the lost of jobs or the growth of anxiety and depression in teens. Therefore people need

to start learning how to limit technology to help benefit the society has a whole.

[BODY 1] With the growth of technology, the loss of jobs has started to decrease. With

machines replacing jobs in factories and other work environments, there is now a battle between

machine and man. According to the graphic “Wage against the machine” nearly 50% of

countries are at automation risk. This includes Turkey, Greece, France, and so many more. What

is automation? Automation is the use of lagerly automatic equipment in a system. This means

that in factories machines are built to do a specific task over and over again. This does seem like
a great idea because more product is being produce, but with how many jobs are being put at risk

or being taken away in the future there wouldn't be any consumers buying the product. This

would only lead automation hurt the economy and not being beneficial.

[BODY 2] With phones slowly becoming more addictive, it has greatly affected peoples

sleeping and pulls them towards scrolling all night lead teens into depression and anxiety. In Jean

M. Twenge excerpt from her book, “Have Smartphones Destroyed a Generation,” she supports

this idea, since “smartphones could be causing lack of sleep” this has a major impact of “causing

both depression and sleep deprivation,”. Teens already don’t get sleep as a whole but with a

phone addiction can hurt their grades, which then hurts their future. With kids and teens always

looking down that their glowing light and not getting really interactions can also affect their

adulthood,”smartphones is likely to affect them well into adulthood,” (according to Twenge 4).

Without this very important social interaction they’re missing out of when growing this can

affected them when applying for a job, ordering food, or even making a friend. Technology

limits the growth of teens and pulls them into depression, sleep deprivation, and anxiety.

[BODY 3] Some people greatly believe that with technology have help society grow as a

whole. People say with social media helps the growth of activism and gets them involved with

political view/ideas,” sites are very or somewhat important for accomplishing a range of political

goals,” (Monica 3). Yes, it’s important to explore political ideas or goal and find a community
were they they can express their interest, but this only in the heads that they are helping,”social

media ,akes people believe they’re making a different when they really aren't,”(Monica 5).

Tweeting about something isn't magically fix itself, the most technology will do is inspired

others but if they want change they will have do it herself. When the accomplish this that will

help benefit society because of the persons act and not their tweet.

[CONCLUSION] Therefor with technology only causing more problems such as loss of jobs

and higher rates for depression and anxiety, people need to learn the limits of technology instead

of relying on it. With so many regions of the world losing jobs it’s important to be able to

balance the two people and technology. Parents need put time limits on phones to help with teens

sleep schedule so they do not become a statistic. If society is educate of the effects of technology

it can inspired others why the need to limit their time and use of technology.
