I. Objective: Identify the elements of a narrative text

II. Subject Matter:


Topic: Elements of a Narrative Text
Teaching aids: Visual text written in Manila paper, Grade 7 Learning Module
Reference: K-12 BEC English Learning Module,
Value Focus: Appreciating the elements that make up a narrative text.
Competency: ENG7LT-III-c-2.2

III. Developmental Activities:


Activity:Group Activity: Give the students a story of ‘Alice and the Wonderland’. Let them perform the
assigned task using the notes about the different elements of a narrative text as their guide.
G1- Go over the selection and list down all the countries visited by the person in the selection.
G2-Go over the selection and list down all the characters and his/her character/trait.
G3- Discuss the mood of the selection
G4- Find out the theme of the selection
G5- Summarize the story using the time order chart.
Analysis: Process the activity by facilitating the learners answers. Go over their answers and let them analyze if
they have answered it correctly. Explain and discuss the different elements of a narrative text.
Abstraction: Guide questions:
1. What are the different elements mentioned?
2. Is one element important than the other?
3. What are the functions of each?
Application:Show students with a familiar narrative text. Instruct learners to fill in the story elements on the
plot diagram. Let them show their answers to the class.

IV. Evaluation: Identify the elements of a narrative text described in the following sentences.
1. It shows the time, place, and culture used in the selection.
2. It tells us insights about life through their narrative.
3. These are the people or inanimated objects in the narrative which adds life to it.
4. These are words use by the author to develop the atmosphere of the narrative.

V. Assignment: Instruct students to write a short story about their last exciting experience. Let them identify
story elements in their own writing.
