May 1. Introduction: The lessons have begun smoothly. We have made

25th, Determine level of English, discuss introductions and discussed the content for future lessons. I
7pm. future lesson content and negotiate have decided to teach English through sources based on
lesson times. interests and hobbies given by Min Seok.

May 1.Undertale Sans: Abilities, 1 para I have changed my plan of the lessons by orientating the
29th, 2.Determine future lesson content and lessons towards school content. I will develop his English
7pm. lesson time communication from what he has learnt at school. I will still
improve his speaking and listening skills through sources of
interest to Min Seok.

Jun 8th, 1.Introducing oneself, date, weather,

conversational speaking.
Because Min Seok’s learning programme at school had not
been sent through to me, I changed the lesson into a
session about having a conversation. This also gave me an
idea of the level of English Min Seok has, and his progress
at school.

Jun 1. Overview of school studies: directions I have tested Min Seok’s skill with directions using a
12th, practice using Pacman map. different situation (Pacman), and have found it to
7pm. 2. Introduction to contractions satisfactory. We also went a little into grammar, in which I
have found that he has not learnt about contractions. Next
week, I will improve his speaking skills using a written
source.

Jun 1.Introducing my family Today, due to Min Seok’s request, we talked about family
19th, 2.Cultural differences in the language members and how to introduce them. I also explained about
7pm. 3. Grammar: articles, apostrophe to cultural differences, such as how English has much less
show possession names for family members than Korean has, and taught
terms that relate to Korean culture, such as mother’s and
father’s side. We touched a little into grammar that appears
in the sentences I gave as examples, such as the difference
of the and a/an and possession.

Jun 1.Revise family After a quick revision of family members, I went to applying
22th, 2.Comprehension skills: connecting knowledge of English-origin words in the Korean language
7pm. Korean with English for comprehension. I was able to make example
connections with what I could see on Min Seok’s screen,
such as the air-conditioner and headphones. This was to
show how he could relate the two languages and improve
the chances of arriving at the correct translation of a text. In
the near future, I will find a text that is for his level and try to
translate it using the skills I have talked about.

Jun 1.Causal talk: where I live, brief history Because we have spent until now on English, I wanted to

Jun 1.Address The focus today was on location: how to write an address,

7pm. words Min Seok has heard of, such as city and road, and
others that he hasn’t, such as province and ward. I also
made a point to explain that English address are written
with the number first, and that the words to denote an area
is not needed. During the lesson, Min Seok also noted that
location could be explained using features in the area, such
as schools and police stations. This is a potential area we
could explore into, thus introducing prepositions.
