those were my first systems... I broke so many hard drives doing this. Doing analytics at those
times was rewarding but we thought we were just statisticians with a strong passion for coding.
Looking backwards now I could wisely say 'we sow the seed of what today is called Analytics'
(liar!) I just used the tools I found to solve the problems I created :) I love cooking so much
(and eating), and I must humbly say that I'm a good baker.

Dec-2017 until today
In charge of transforming data into knowledge by developing
studies and coding software and analytical solutions from big data
analysis provided by the complex ecosystem of data sources at the
Veladero Mine’s Integrated Remote Operation Centre in Albardon,
applying multiple data mining techniques like regression,
cleansing, processing, classification, anomaly detection,
structuring and transformation. Also, creation of Dashboards,
Panels and Visualizations in Power BI, Pi Vision and VS fed by
SQL Queries and other ODBC sources in order to let users study
and visualize their datasets.
Main used tools: Visual Studio .NET VB, SQL Server
Management Studio, Orange, Microsoft Azure, Power BI, Excel,
VBA for Excel, PI Vision, PI Data Link, PI System Explorer, Weka
and Python.
Well Testing Data Acquisition Specialist, with the personal
challenge of making Analytics a good tool for the wellsite. Worked
on the development of a software package capable of gathering all
the datasets generated in Expro Wellsite Operations such as Well
Testing, Flow back, Wireline logging, Perforation, Sensor and tool
calibrations and putting them together in a relational way allowing
the system, or the users themselves to make relational queries
among the datasets, perform several Analytics techniques and
contribute to the construction of knowledge blocks based on the
information generated by the data processing.
Working for Expro was a great experience, it helped me to
understand the process from a point of view I was not used to see
from, and to respect even more those who set up the whole
equipment in place at the well site.
In this too short period of time I was lucky enough to meet
wonderful people from whom I learned so much and that I'm
grateful to.

My responsibilities included (but were not limited to):
Development and implementation of databases, applications and
workflows for managing and interpretation of wireline logs.
Managing and processing datasets for reservoir characterization,
playback management and database integration (Firebird and SQL
Server). Creation and management of the databases of the National
Customer Data Center. Development and deployment of databases
and application for Data Research, Data Seek and Data Mining in
• Rio de Janeiro & Macae, Brazil
• Dhahran, Saudi Arabia
• Ciudad del Carmen, México
• Bogotá, Colombia
• Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia
• Muscat & Fahud, Oman Sultanate
• Neuquén & Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Design and setup of Geographic Information Systems and their
integration with Wireline, Drilling, Mud logging and Interpretation
well logs in:
• Dhahran, Saudi Arabia
• Neuquén & Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Field test of acquisition software, 11 open hole and 3 cased hole
operations in Argentina; 2 open hole operations in Bolivia and 1
cased hole operation in Chile. Design and setup methods, databases
and apps for the modulation of well logs channels and parameters
using sound as the carrier of information. Management of the
Argentinean Ministry of Energy Wells and Productions databases
and its integration with locally managed National Customer Data
Center datasets for the Shale Projects. Creation, Quality Control
and edition of final well logs records in both graphical and digital
(dlis/las) versions, and Welljobs and Oracle Business Intelligence
Enterprise Edition control panels management. Perform data
mining within National Data Repository using several methods
including Regression Analysis for toolset predictive maintenance,
Multidimensional Correlations for quality control of on depth raw
data, Frequency Distribution, Clustering and Classification for
failure analysis, etc.
Main used tools: Visual Studio (.NET), Access (SQL), Excel, VBA
for Excel, Petrel, Firebird, Techlog, ProSource, Maxwell, OBIEE,
Python, Tableau and OP.
Beyond the tasks
Oil and Gas Industry is one of the most stressful ones, every Client
wants their datasets now, every minute has a cost, and data quality
has to be exceeded, so to achieve these goals I was a human
processing hub within a variable team of around twenty Field
Engineers that stayed for two or three years, each one of them
performing operations at the wellsite sending to me the datasets to
be processed (nothing too wow doesn't it ? ), but it was a pleasure
of multicultural brotherhood : Argentinians, Americans, Canadian,
Frenchs, Mexicans, Indians, Iranians, Ukrainians, Romanians,
Dutchs, Scotts, Englishs, Malaysians, Myamarians, Trinitarians,
Brazilians, Peruvians, Chileans, Colombians, Venezuelans,
Russians, Equatorians, Bolivians, Italians, Norwegians, Omanian,
Saudíes, Nigerians, Lebaneses, all of us working together, learning
one from each other, helping each other once, twice and fifty times.
Each one of them has given to me a piece of themselves, a glance
of their culture, their nation, their loves and fears, their dreams,
their parents pictures, their homes and roots.
We are a diverse world all blended under the unicity of our
humanity, we all love our children and thank nature for the sun and
the trees, the birds and the stars. What is the most valuable treasure
I got at Schlumberger: A lesson of multicultural brotherhood
stamped on my heart, and the idea that the technical excellence
does exist. As an extra, travelling the world, meeting dozens of
different cultural and natural landscapes, learning from my fellows
as well as from their families. I realized that for me Analytics is not
only applying methods onto datasets, is much more a tool that helps
me to help others to find answers to their questions meanwhile I
learn from them more than they learn from myself.
1.4. Statistical Process Control + QAQC @
Coca-Cola Andina
1992 to 2006 (+14 y)
My responsibilities included (but were not limited to):
Production data management, generation and maintenance of KPI
and control panels in a daily basis. Production database
maintenance and real-time control panel reporting for 7 bottling
lines and 3 bottle blowers. Financial month closure and forensic
raw materials usage analysis in order to determine material losses
sources and eventually fix them. Application development for
Statistical Process Control, SCADA and report generation.
Writing of Standard Operative Procedures and Operative
Instructions for Quality System Certification. SAP R/3 PP
implementation and part of the team in charge of the conceptual
design and later usage. Raw materials stock management and
critical purchases person-in-charge for beverage bottling (Coca-
Cola Polar).
Raw materials and finished product stock daily analysis point of
sale Quality audits and plant microbiology. (Coca-Cola Polar)
Laboratory procedures execution for controlling chemical
concentrations of several components in washer solutions,
additives, caustics and finished products using acid/base titrations,
spectrophotometer, densitometer, DNA illuminometer and several
physical measurements (Coca-Cola Inti).
Main used tools: Visual Basic, Excel, SAP R/3, VBA for Excel,
Access and Word.
Beyond the tasks
A twenty-one years old me, ten kilograms lighter, still not a father
(but near to) started to analyze the occurrences of hydrocarbons and
nitrogenous contaminants in the returning materials to the bottling
plant. What a challenge!!! was not only doing math, was smelling,
testing, calibrating, smelling again.... mmmm... in the end: the
trends, a sociological study of city's population behavior performed
in the middle of a production line. When recitals in town:
hydrocarbon arise, when important football matches in town:
nitrogenous arises. A beautiful and well-behaved gang of buddies
and bosses helped me to discover the value of the friendship at the
same time that of the Quality Systems, Procedures, Policies and
Operative Instructions. Internet has not existed yet in town (or at

least no one knew it), computers running at 33Mhz equipped with
MS-DOS 6 and Lotus 1-2-3 and QBasic were the tools for me to
learn, try, test and develop, and you know what? Everyone was so
happy! So many experiences, so many mates, to each one of them
I owe a bit of what I am right now, many of us were the same age,
we grew up together, we built the Company from the inside, from
the base, even when burning some hardware from time to time :)
We discovered the real value of Quality: in Coca-Cola there is no
higher value than it, so everything we did, was committed to it, and
all my learning and developments was a path towards the Quality
in both professional and personal stages. But all the journey was
terribly funny, we couldn't stand ourselves as we never stopped
doing jokes... what a beautiful gang.... as the song says 'Those crazy
years , that was the time of the flower-power...'
What is the most valuable treasure I got from Coca-Cola bottlers:
The learning, the opportunities of doing what we thought was right,
the opportunities to grow professionally, the respect to Quality, and
the love of the people.
