II. PROJECT RATIONALE:

Project Overview:

The Importance of establishing a Seedbank and Nursery in school


is to store seeds and have on-hand the genes for plants that need to
increase yield. Another reason is to forestall loss of genetic diversity in
plants in an effort to conserve biodiversity, also to raise awareness about
the importance of seedbank and nurseries in school premises.

This project titled “SEEDBANK AND NURSERY


ESTABLISHMENT” is proposed to provide enough supply of seeds for
future YES-Organization activities such as Tree Planting and having a
vegetable garden. This activity is in line with the Environmental Impact
Statement System Presidential Decree No. 1586. It is to maintain the
balance between the environment and the socio-economic development of
the country. In this project, YES-Organization of Calbayog City National
High School are obliged to participate in storing seeds for the betterment
of our school.

Project Objectives:

 To have enough supply of seeds in the school premises for future projects
 To be able to grow plants within the school premises
 To collect and use seeds and seedlings coming from native, Endemic and
indigenous species of trees.
