Summary
The teacher makes a space rocket and writes a note which is written by Berk. S/he puts the
rocket on his/her table. The teacher uses a book named as Who Stole the Moon is written by
Helen Stratton Would. The book mentions about Berk who is admire to the moon. His imaginary
is to be an astronaut. There is a window which he can watch the sky on roof of his room and he
watches the sky every night from this window. However, one night, he cannot the moon and try
to find it.

S/he prepares a sheet including cap of astronaut for last part of the activity.

When the teacher comes to the class, asks that “Did you realize any difference in the
class?” and encourages the children to look around carefully. The children realize the pictures
and they talk about them. The teacher says that “What they are? Have you ever seen them
before?” and listens the children’s answers. The teacher says that “In the morning, when I come
to the class, this was there and there is a note next to it.” by showing the space rocket.

S/he adds “What is this? What can be used for?” and listens the children’s comments.
Then, s/he reads the note: “Hello, I’m Berk. I have bad news for you. I cannot find the moon.
Maybe, you can help me to find it. I have a book which mentions about me and this book can be
helpful for you. We can use this rocket for that. Thank you for your help.”. The teacher says that
“Where do you think the moon might be gone? (after listens the children), I guess Berk needs our
help. I will read the book for you. Then, let's think what we can do for him.” She starts to read
the book by holding it on the same surface for every child. Furthermore, every child can see the
book easily and s/he shows to children pictures of the book. At some parts of the reading, s/he
stops to read and asks children questions such as’’ What do you think Berk will do?’’ in order to
maintain children’s attention on the book.

After the reading, the teacher says that “Have you ever thought of becoming an
astronaut? If you were an astronaut, what would you do?” and provide the children to think.
While the children share their thoughts, the teacher hangs out a sheet including cap of astronaut.
S/he says that “If you were an astronaut, how would you design your cap?” and the children
starts to design their own caps.

When all children finish their caps, they wear them, and the teacher takes a photograph.
Then, s/he collects them and puts on the corner of the class to exhibit.
