Reflection
This project gave me new insight as far as how I eat. Commonly, I often do not find myself
thinking about how many calories I consume daily or what I eat and it’s nutritional value. During
the course of this project I was forced to acknowledge what I eat and how many calories it
contains. The calorie intake project as a result, have me insights on how to substitute foods I eat
I noticed in my chart I eat a lot of processed foods that already come packaged or fast food
out of convenience. One goal I have after the project is to begin meal planning or preparing my
food when I go to school or work. Normally I would choose processed options or fast food
because I do not have time to make the food, although if I do in my spare time, it could help my
health and my budget. Another analyzation i came to realize is at times I skip meals such as
breakfast or lunch due to lack of time management. As a result, another goal is to buy more fruits
and vegetables that are easy to access as far as my schedule, especially when it comes to eating
breakfast. If these fruits and vegetables are easy to grab at home, it can help limit the amount of
meals or snacks I skip, as well as getting in more nutritional values in my diet. My final goal is to
substitute all drinks with water. Often times during lunch or dinner I normally do not choose
water as a beverage and find myself drinking something that contains a lot more sugar.
Additionally, my daily water intake can be lacking as a result causing dehydration and on
occasions cause my migraines to trigger. If I add more water into my daily food intake, this can
include a breakfast option or collective of yogurt, fruit, and a low sugar cereal. For snacks, these
options can include baked chips, vegetables, pretzels, or a fruit bar. Lunch can include items
such as a salad with light or no dressing, a turkey sandwich on wheat bread, and a cookie. My
ideal dinner would consist of steamed broccoli with butter and lemon pepper seasoning, steamed
rice, and smoked ribs or grilled beef. Overall the calorie intake project showed me different
aspects of my diet and aided in self reflection on how to change and improve my diet.
