En algunos pa�ses se puede referir a pilav como pilaf, por ejemplo en Estados
Unidos6? pero muchos autores en ingl�s prefieren la palabra pilav, como Donald
Quataert, Dani Valent y Jim Masters.7? Algunos libros prefieren la denominaci�n
"Turkish pilav".8?
En Turqu�a una comida sin pilav es considerada incompleta. Se come tanto como un
agregado de otros platos como un plato independiente. En el primer caso, la
combinaci�n m�s popular es "kuru fasulye - pilav" (jud�as blancas con pilav) que se
considera por algunos "el plato nacional" de Turqu�a.18? En el �ltimo caso, que es
su modo tradicional de consumo, el pilav generalmente se acompa�a de yogurt, cacik
o ayran.
