Needs Assessment:
Weiming ISC’s annual KPI (Key Performance Indicators) is highly connected with students
1) Students keep academic record of C and above
2) High school graduation rate
3) College acceptance rate
4) Student retention rate
5) Students and parents’ satisfaction rate
It is necessity that ISC learn to be professional to better support the international students,
meanwhile to achieve their KPI.

Objectives
 International Students Coordinators: to develop an in depth knowledge of the
International Student Program, to develop an in depth awareness of cross-cultural issues,
 Students: to receive a professional support on both academic and personal related issues.
And have a satisfying and high quality experience within the program.
 Weiming Program: to provide quality education with a focus on equipping students with a
competitive global edge for emerging business industries.
Evaluation Strategies
 International Students Coordinator will review students’ academic reports, student and
parents’ satisfaction surveys.
 International Students Coordinator will practice to better support and serve the international
students and to better communicate with their customers.
 International Students Coordinator will do a self-evaluation annually.
 Academic Director and International Students Coordinator manager will evaluate the ISCs
performance monthly.
Focused and Sustained Time
This professional learning will take place over 12 in-person sessions. Each session will be a 4
hours training. The complete training will be spaced out over a period of 3-5 weeks.

Follow-up:
 ISCs will have bi-weekly conference call to ensure they enhance their skills to be a
professional ISC and to collect feedback based on last professional development training.
Additional assistance will be served during the conference as needed.

Description:
ISCs will join a Weiming new staff orientation and will gain a better idea about the
ISC job and Weiming international program. The new ISCs will have a Q&A session
with the experienced ISCs to learn various strategies to work with the international
exchange students.

September 2018 Topic: Introduction of Michigan Local Culture


Presenters: Weiming Residential Advisor- Daniel McCarville
Attendees: ISCs
Description: ISCs will learn about general information about Michigan and the
U.S. and will learn different strategies to live in a foreign country and to face a
challenge living and working situation.

October 2018 Topic: Alternative Communication PLC

ISCs will learn how to better communicate with students, parents, partner schools
and Weiming internal team by using different effective strategies.

November 2018 Topic: High School Students Academic Support Skills

ISCs will learn how to develop skills to ensure the international students can
gain their academic success.

December 2018 Topic: College Application PLC

ISCs will learn about the U.S. college application process and materials to be
prepared by the international senior students. They will gain the knowledge to
better support the international students’ college application.

January 2019 Topic: Team-Work Skills PLC

Description:
ISCs will learn about the skills to build up good relationship with colleagues. Gaining
team-work skills to work smoothly and high efficiently.

February 2019 Topic: High School Students Well Being Support Skills
Presenters: Dean of The Students from a partner high school

Description: ISCs will demonstrate knowledge of high school students to better
support them on their well being. ISCs will work in group, solve problems from some

of the daily scenarios and learn how to monitor student behavior and response to
student misbehavior.

March 2019 Topic: U.S. High school working skills / Time Management skills

Description:
ISCs will learn about the time management skills, efficiency working skills,
and organizing skills.
April 2019 Topic: High School Students Activity Planning Skills

students. Host activities that can attract the student and build up Weiming reputations.
May 2019 Topic: Establish Culture for Learning

ISCs will understand the importance establishing a positive learning culture within
the students group. Learn to set expectations for student learning and achievement.
June 2019 Topic: Outdoor Activity Training at the Adventure Park

ISCs will build up a strong team-work spirit and adventure spirit. Learn to never stop
exploring and challenging yourself.
July 2019 Topic: Online Training Session for Reading

Description: ISCs will read an education related book and will write a summary
essay after reading to share with the other ISCs. Share your insight thoughts after
reading and use a really life example to analyze.
