Product Descriptions

Activators
Multifunctional cure activators for the sulfur vulcanization of diene rubber, especially
natural rubber. They can partly or totally replace conventional activators based on
Activator 73 A
fatty acids (stearic acid, zinc stearate, and zinc 2-ethylhexanoate) and impart excellent
Activator 73 LM
reversion resistance. They can also be used as an effective physical peptizer for the
mastication of natural rubber to improve processability in mixing, extrusion and
molding. “LM” is designed for low shear and low temperature mixes.
As a rubber soluble zinc soap, it is used instead of stearic acid and reduces stress
ZEH relaxation and primary creep of NR-vulcanizates, especially in combination with
ZEH-DL soluble EV-systems. ZEH-DL is a free flowing powder; it offers processing advantages
compared to the high viscosity of ZEH.
A cross-linking agent consisting of a 2:3 ratio of zinc oxide to magnesium oxide for
Zimag 29/43A
chloroprene compounds to reduce scorch.
Used as an activator for thiazoles, thiurams and dithiocarbamates by supplying fatty
Zinc Laurate
acid and soluble zinc.

Coated Metal Oxides

WB 700A Coated zinc oxide with 91% ZnO for natural and synthetic rubber compounds.

Coated magnesium oxide with 75% MgO for natural and synthetic rubber compounds,
WB 900A
especially for CR and CSM. Provides protection against humidity and carbon dioxide.

Coated Sulfurs
These coated sulfurs contain dispersing and wetting agents and can be used to
SU 95AF
enhance sulfur dispersion in any natural or synthetic rubber compound. They are
SU 109A
active dispersions of oil treated sulfur at the following activities: SU 95AF = 95%
SU 120A
(soluble), SU 109A = 75% (insoluble), SU 120A = 83% (soluble), SU 135A = 75%
SU 135A
(½ soluble and ½ insoluble).

Homogenizing Agents
This homogenizing agent is particularly effective with those elastomer blends that tend
to crumble at the beginning of the mixing cycle. It is used to improve the homogeneity
of elastomers of different polarity and viscosity. It also reduces mill bagging behavior,
40 MS
extrusion rates are increased without increasing die swell, and calendering properties
are improved. Increases the green tack of many compounds although it is not strictly
a tackifier.
A lubricant/homogenizer combination which improves the mixing behavior of rubber
compounds and promotes dispersion of reinforcing materials such as carbon black.
HP 55
Benefits have been found in the tire industry, particularly where solution SBR and NR
are used.

Mandrel Release
A silicone free anti-tack agent (liquid, water soluble, mandrel release) and external
lubricant for rubber processing. It has been especially designed for EPDM hoses, both
MR 187
peroxide and sulfur cross-linked, but can also be used successfully as a lubricant
for cured rubber articles. It is biodegradable.

Peptizers
These are used as a combination peptizing and processing additive and are effective in
A 80
both natural and synthetic rubber. A 80 and A 82 are easily dispersed in rubber due to
A 82
their high concentration of dispersing agent. A 86 contains more active substance and
A 86
can therefore be used at lower dosages.
A mixture of zinc soaps of high molecular weight fatty acids used to reduce viscosity
A 91F
in NR and SBR.
A non-discoloring multifunctional additive used as a mild mastication additive. It
combines both chemical and physical peptizing functionality. This additive favors the
HT 105A
breakdown of high molecular weight chains alone, resulting in more uniform molecular
weight distribution and better dynamic vulcanizate properties.

Silane Coupling Agents

These materials provide coupling of most non-black fillers to the polymer backbone
Silane Coupling allowing for: improved abrasion resistance, higher compound modulus, lower hysteresis,
Agents improved compression set, and in tire tread compounds improved rolling resistance.
(See Silane Coupling Agents guide for details.)

Plasticizers
An antistatic plasticizer for mineral filled NBR, SBR, and NR compounds.
AW 1 A surface resistance as low as 1 x 106 Ohms can be achieved in NBR
vulcanizates.
An easily soluble plasticizer used to improve the low temperature flexibility
KW 400 of all commonly used rubbers. NBR vulcanizates can be compounded to
provide flexibility at temperatures as low as -55°C.
A plasticizer with extremely low pour point offering excellent low temperature
KW 600
flexibility.
Halogen-free phosphate ester plasticizer with excellent low temperature
KW 800
flexibility and flame retardant properties.
Used in NBR, ECO, and ACM to improve oil and fuel resistance. Due to its
WB 300 incompatibility with aliphatic hydrocarbons, mineral oils and greases, it will
not leach from vulcanizates and thus minimizes hardening and shrinkage.

Polyethylene Wax
Low molecular weight polyethylene wax used in both natural and synthetic
PEH-100 elastomers. It improves flow and processability, promotes release from hot
metals, and improves pigment dispersion.

Slab Dip
A mixture of insoluble and soluble soaps with dispersing agents. It is a
Antiadherente batch-off slab lubricant designed for use in the rubber industry. The
formulation is made without any inorganic fillers.

Slip Agents (Amides)

These unsaturated fatty primary amides function by migrating to the surface
in a microscopic coating which reduces the coefficient of friction. TR 121
TR 121
(oleamide) migrates more rapidly than TR 131 (erucamide) but has reduced
TR 131
heat stability. They function as both a lubricant and mold release agent and
TR 141*
their low odor make them extremely suitable for food contact applications.
*For peroxide cure systems, use TR 141.

Tackifiers
This product can be used as a high performance tackifier for natural and
Koresin
synthetic elastomers for improving long term building tack in compounds
(BASF)
and cements.
These products are resinous plasticizers which significantly increase the low
TS 30 green tack of synthetic rubber compounds. The “DL” forms are free-flowing
TS 35 powders that offer improved handling over high viscosity products. TS 50 is
TS 50 especially suitable for EPDM compounds to improve the tack of “dry” highly
loaded compounds.
A hydrocarbon resin that improves the homogeneity of elastomers of different
polarity and viscosity. They are rapidly absorbed by the polymers during the
TAC KI F I ERS, O DO R CONTROL

Strukrez 110
mixing cycle. A relatively low viscosity mass is quickly achieved into which
other compounding ingredients can easily be incorporated.

Odor Control
May be added during compounding, extrusion or molding to eliminate
or mask undesirable odors often associated with the addition of recycle
RP 17 streams or other ingredients used in compounding. At low dosages it tends
to neutralize odor while at higher dosages it will impart a fresh “clean” odor
to the rubber compound.
