I am pleased to write this letter of recommendation for Alexandra Ortega. I worked with
Alexandra during the 2018-2019 school year. She was teaching a 2/3 combination class in a
culturally diverse setting at Allen Elementary School in the Chula Vista Elementary School
District. I was her University Supervisor for her second semester of student teaching.

I observed Alexandra teach six lessons during the semester. From the beginning she impressed
me with her calm and positive demeanor. She planned engaging standards-based lessons. She
differentiated instruction by planning small group lessons to better meet the needs of
individual students. When planning and delivering instruction she considered the
developmental levels as well as the academic and behavioral needs of all the students. She
focused on academic language and vocabulary development during her lessons and created
opportunities for students to communicate with each other. Additionally, she included hands-
on activities and used technology to support her instruction.

In addition to her classroom skills, Alexandra communicated well with staff, parents, and peers.
She collaborated with me, her guide teacher, and her San Diego State University peers to plan,
implement and reflect on instruction. She reflected on her lessons and incorporated
suggestions from her supervisors into her teaching practice.

Alexandra is a caring educator and would make a great addition to your staff. Her enthusiasm
for teaching, ability to create effective lessons for students, and desire to contribute to a team
