3 Description
3.1 Application
The Power Supply Unit, Type 119 -- 023, is used where an uninterruptible power supply for
24 VDC loads is required. In case of failure of the AC input voltage -- which is connected
into 24VDC via a power module -- , automatic change--over of the device to the shipborne
24 VDC emergency supply takes place; and, simultaneously, an alarm signal ’Power fail’ is
offered via a floating contact.
3.2 Construction
(see Fig. 3--2)
The power supply module and the components for automatic change--over have been moun-
ted on a mounting plate. Change--over is ensured by:
-- a relay K1
-- a resistor R2
-- a capacitor C1
The mounting plate is mounted in a casing made of steel sheet and intended for bulkhead
mounting. The bottom side of the casing carries cable entries and a ground connection. Late-
rally mounted vent slots ensure heat dissipation.

With failure of the ship’s mains, the relay RY101 in the power supply module drops out. By this
the relay K1 drops out also and changes over the supply for the connected devices to the
24 VDC emergency supply. The capacitor C1 prevents voltage drops during change--over
operations.
