GNED 1010 Effective Learning and Thinking Skills [ND][2 Credit(s)]


[Previous Course Code(s): GNED 001] This course will provide undergraduates with the opportunity to
develop the learning and thinking skills needed at university and for lifelong learning. It will cover areas
such as creative and critical thinking and how to learn effectively from texts and lectures. Graded DI, PA or

GNED 1060 Career Management Skills (CELT) [ND][2 Credit(s)]


[Previous Course Code(s): GNED 006] This course aims at helping students to develop lifelong employability
skills to manage their career effectively both nationally and internationally. By going through the Windmills
Career program, which is a repeatable, five-stage career management cycle, students are guided to engage
in activities to understand themselves, gain knowledge and skills in career development and make
appropriate career decisions in different stages of their lives. A variety of input will come from practical
classroom exercises, career topic group research, guest lectures by experienced career professionals, and
workshops by UST's career advisors and library staff. This course is for 2nd and 3rd year undergraduates.
Students interested in acquiring practical job search skills and understanding the current job market may
consider taking GNED2510 or GNED2520. Graded DI, PA or F.

GNED 1080 Information Skills for Life Long Learning [ND][1 Credit(s)]
[Previous Course Code(s): GNED 008] This course is for all undergraduates and will provide them with the
opportunity to develop the information literacy skills needed at university and for self-directed lifelong
learning. It will cover tools and skills to access and use information wisely and effectively. Graded DI, PA or
F.

GNED 2000 Selected Topics in General Education [0-3 Credit(s)]


[Previous Course Code(s): GNED 100] Selected topics and subject matter aimed at meeting the University's
objective to provide students a well-rounded education that enhances the development of their creativity,
critical thinking, global outlook, and cultural awareness. Maybe graded DI/PA/F.

GNED 2510 Career Building [ND][1 Credit(s)]


[Previous Course Code(s): GNED 151, GNED 051] The course is open to all undergraduate students, with
priority given to Year 2 students or above. Approval from the course instructor is required. It aims at
empowering students in making rewarding career choices by 1) introducing the career planning process, 2)
enhancing their understanding of the current job market and employers' expectation, and 3) equipping them
with essential and practical job search skills like CV writing, interview, aptitude test, group discussion, etc.
so as to increase their competitiveness. Experiential learning opportunities and personalized feedback will
be provided to prepare students for the recruitment process. Seasoned practitioners from different sectors
will be invited to shed light on recruitment criteria and industry updates. Graded DI/PA/F. Detailed course
contents are available at the Career Center website. Students interested in further developing career
management skills may consider taking GNED1060. Both courses complement each other and can be taken
exclusively, successively or simultaneously.

GNED 2520 Career Building Course (for Science students) [ND][1 Credit(s)]
[Previous Course Code(s): GNED 152] The course is offered by the Career Center for Science undergraduate
students only. Priority will be given to Year 2 students or above. Approval from the course instructor is

[Previous Course Code(s): GNED 162] This is a course designed to engage students in exploring arts and
their own creative abilities through a series of seminars, art tutorials and enrichment activities. Students will
have the opportunities to create their artistic expression and learn through guided reflective activities to
master one art skill. Graded DI/PA/F. Instructor's approval is required for admission to the course.

GNED 2710 Service Learning Project [ND][1 Credit(s)]


[Previous Course Code(s): GNED 171] The course aims to enhance students' civic awareness and
engagement through structured service activities related to one or more community organizations. Students
will be divided into small groups to work on service projects and consolidate their learning experience
through guided reflective activities. Students may take this course up to two times if the scope of the
service projects is different. Graded P/F/PP. Instructor's approval is required for admission to the course.
