PRESENT CONTINUOUS
Grammatical Rules
Form :
To form the present continuous we use the auxiliary verb "to be" and the verb + ing.
Structure:
1. Affirmative Sentences
2. Negative Sentences
Subject + auxiliar verb (to be) + auxiliar negative (not) + verb +ing.
Examples:
3. Interrogative Sentences
To form the gerund, we must add the final ending -ing to the infinitive form of the verb.
However, the result may be different depending on the root of the verb:

Uses:
1. The present continuous is used to talk about something that is happening at
the moment we speak.
Examples:
I’m studying now
He’s eating at the moment.
Is it raining?
2. We also use it to talk about something that is happening now but not
necessarily when we speak. In this case, time expressions such as "currently",
"lately" or "these days" are used.
Examples:
They’re learning English.
She’s currently looking for a job.
Are you working much lately?
3. We use the present continuous to talk about something that is already
decided to be done in the near future.
Examples:
I’m going to the party tonight.
He’s not [He isn’t] coming to class tomorrow.
Are you working next week?
Note: There are some verbs that we do not usually use in continuous times.
Below is a list of verbs that are not used in continuous times.
