TASK 4: Reflection on simulated teaching – INDIVIDUAL (15%)

A lesson plan is a teacher's detailed description of the course of instruction or "learning

trajectory" for a lesson. A daily lesson plan’s details will vary depending on the preference of
the teacher, subject being covered, and the needs of the students (O'Bannon, 2008). My
experience includes to collaborate with groupmates, prepare good teaching aids and always
prepare more effective activity for the students.

During my simulated teaching task where we have to choose one out of three lesson-
plan from the group, I gained a lot of things too. We had a discussion a few times, and this
gives us chance to know each other better. I realised that it is a good opportunity for me to
work with energizing girls like both Zalika and Adila. I was happy to succeed in documenting
the lesson plan well. We made a great collaboration in managing the classroom. How I wished
that I can have my friends with me too when teaching at school in the future.

Other than that, I also learned that teaching aids is very important in our lesson plan.
Simulated teaching task makes me realise the benefits of using pictures as the teaching aids.
In other words, photos can be used to direct the selective attention of learners to significant
visual information. In addition, the puzzle picture as our teaching aids ease the haiku poem to
be understood. We also prepare haiku poem for them to guess the answer. Thus, teachers
should not only prepare the activity, but also the material used. Having an effective, durable
and big material would be very helpful.

On the other hand, simulated teaching task teaches me to prepare more activity in a
lesson plan. I reflect this when comparing my lesson plan which is too simple, and other
friends’ that prepares a lot of other activities. It affects the students to enjoy the lesson more,
which also means help the students to understand the learning. Besides, too simple activities
would cost the students to become easily bored and out of control. In shorts, lesson plan
should prepare more effective activity for the students.

These tasks in fact give me lesson to be learned. That includes to collaborate with
groupmates, prepare good teaching aids and always prepare more effective activity for the
students.
