Out in the world, there are so many
Asian-Fusion and American-Asian
restaurants that it is hard to find
authentic, traditional East-Asian
restaurants. This guide will hopefully
help anyone on their quest to find good,
authentic East-Asian cuisine.

What you Need:
Necessities:

● A car
○ to get you around

● A smartphone/computer
○ needs Yelp(™) and
Google(™)/Apple(™) maps

How to Tell If A
Restaurant is
Authentic:
Step 1: Look Up Reviews

Look at the Yelp reviews. It may not

give you all of the information, but it
will tell you whether the place is
good, or not.

Step 2: The Smell
● When you walk into an authentic East-Asian
restaurant, you should be bombarded with the
spices and scents that are attributed to whatever
is served there.

● Also, the aroma that the food itself emits should

be a major hint to the dishes authenticity
regarding traditional East-Asian flavors.

Step 3: Look at The Clientele

The people eating at that restaurant

also can clue you into whether or not
it’s authentic. If you can see that
there are local Asians eating, and
enjoying the food they are being
served, then it probably is traditional.

Step 4: Observe The Menu

The language the menu is written in is

another clue to if you are at an authentic
East-Asian restaurant.
● Menus purely in English are red flags to a
non-authentic restaurant.

● Menus written in the language of the restaurant’s

cuisine is probably from an authentic restaurant.

Step 5: Find Out the Ingredients Used

The type and quality of the ingredients

used in a dish are also big hints to
whether or not a dish is authentic.
Ex: Substituting Jasmine rice with
American white rice; using spaghetti
noodles instead of traditional noodles;
etc.

If you did all of the steps
correctly, and the restaurant
you are at has passed those
steps, then you are most likely
at an authentic East-Asian
restaurant. CONGRATS!

Why did I make this slideshow?

I created this slide to help those out

there who want to have a traditional
East-Asian dining experience but
don’t know where to get that. Also, I
love Asian food so much that it’s
basically an addiction.

Why did I design the slideshow this way?

● Theme- I chose this because it was

colorful and simplistic and had is
based on food.
● Font- It’s visually appealing and goes
along with the theme of the
slideshow.
● Images- They complement the
written portion of this slideshow and
provide visual aids and examples.
