Configuring a Static Route

Command Purpose

Step 1 configure terminal Enters configuration

Example: mode.
switch# configure terminal
switch(config)#

Step 2 ip route {ip-prefix | ip-addr ip-mask} {[next-hop | nh-prefix] | Configures a static route and
[interface next-hop | nh-prefix]} [tag tag-value [pref] the interface for this static
Example: route.
switch(config)# ip route 192.0.2.0/8 ethernet 1/2 192.0.2.4

Step 3 show ip static-route Displays information

Example: about static routes.
switch(config)# show ip static-route

Step 4 copy running-config startup-config Saves this configuration

Example: change.
switch(config)# copy running-config startup-config
