The importance of learning another

language and why you should

Advantages of learning another language

Learning a second language is one of the most beneficial skills a


person can learn. It provides not only economic opportunities, but
cognitive benefits as well. According to studies conducted by New
American Economy employers are much more likely to hire candidates that
are able to speak more than one language and in the past decade job
openings requiring a second language have grown exponentially.
Cognitive development can be further enhanced by learning another
language according to an Auburn University memory skills acquired when
studying another language can directly boost a person’s ability in
their native language articulation and math.

In today’s global economy, businesses require employees who can
serve customers in a variety of languages.

Better the United States by learning a language


Currently according to a recent Pew Research Center study only
20% of United States citizens are able to speak a second language
proficiently. This rate is laughable compared to countries abroad such
as in western Europe where countries have populations with as much as
95% of them speaking a second or even third language proficiently. If
you take the initiative in learning a language well you set a great
example for why the United States government should better invest into
foreign language education.

What was on the first four pages of this document was printed
into a brochure that was distributed to some students in Mrs Desande’s
4A Spanish 3 class and students at C lunch on A day. The product was
condensed into this document for easier viewing by you so it could be
submitted digitally rather than needing a physical copy. Also the
submission may alter the formatting as this was done on google drive
and word may change positioning.

Feedback
From the students both in Lunch and Spanish class they felt that
it was a concise way of presenting the clear advantages from learning
another language. A consistent gripe that was received from the groups
was that the second section about starting as soon as possible was too
long and would lose their attention. This was met by me completely
rewriting the section as concisely as I could while still backing the
claims with evidence from a reputable source. The rest of the feedback
I received was about image selection and that they should be more
related to each section rather than language as a whole.

Audience
The audience for this product was students in highschool and
younger. This is because they are the ones who still have the
opportunity to excel at language studies and would benefit the most
from learning the advantages of a second language.
