Serengeti Breweries announces top leadership changes

Dar es Salaam, June 17th, 2019: Leading beer and spirits company, Serengeti Breweries
Limited (SBL), has appointed a new Managing Director to replace Helene Weesie who has
successfully steered the company’s turn around since 2015.

Helene has been with SBL for four years during which the company has made several
important product launches leading to remarkable growth of the business, numerous
innovation awards and a number of investments. The outgoing MD, who moves to a new
position in Diageo Europe, is also credited for developing and growing local talents during her
tenure.
The incoming MD, Mark Ocitti, is currently the Managing Director
of Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL) which is also a subsidiary of
East Africa Breweries Limited (EABL), the region’s largest alcohol
manufacturing company. Ocitti is credited for successfully
improving the performance of UBL’s business by delivering
important margin expansion growth.

Director and CEO, Andrew Cowan said: “Mark has positively
turned around our Uganda business, sharpening our competitive
Mark Ocitti edge and markedly improving UBL profitability over the last 3
years. No doubt, we expect SBL, our fastest-growing business in the last years, to leverage his
strategic and visionary leadership, to grow even further.”
