10. The forward section of the ailerons move down into the airsteam, when the aileron is

off in order that it will not extend upward or down aileron are known as?
*Fries aileron
11. What is the reason of the gear lever lock mechanism?

*Subsonic.
13. What is canard?
*It is horizontal stabilizing surface ahead of the main wing.
14. During assembly and rigging, the angular movement measurement of an ailerons and
elevators can be checked properly by using?
*Inclinemeter and straight edye.
15. In autopilots system, the directional gyro spins on which axis?
*Horizontal axis.
16. What do you call a primary flight control surface aerodynamically balance?
*If a part of the control surface is placed ahead of the hinge axis of the control surface.
17. In fly by wire aircraft, the roll spoilers are generally controlled by?
*Flight control computer
18. The purpose of cable controls tension regulators are mainly for?
*Maintaining a preset cable tension during flight in different variation of altitude.
19. A Mach-trim system on an airliner prevents?
*Unwanted airspeed exceeded by means of a nose-up trim action.
20. Mass balance weight in a flight control serves the purpose of?
*To counteract any fluttering condition of the control surfaces.
21. If the control cables are adjusted properly and the control surface tends to vibrate, the
probable common cause is ?
*Worn attachement fittings.
22. Adverse yaw of the onset of a turn is compensated through?
*Differential control on the ailerons and/or spoilers.
23. A fail-safe structure are describes as a structure which ?
*With several numbers carrying the major loads, so that if one fails the other can carry
the load.
24. Which advantage do tail mounted engines have on an airliner?
*The necessary downforce of the stabilizer (and drag) is less flight.
25. In the event of powered flight control unit(PFCU) failure
*The pilot can move the flight control in a manual reversion mode.

26. Dutch Roll is known as a combination yawing and rolling oscillation that effects many
swepts wings configured aircraft. In event of the dutch roll it can be countered by?
*Yaw damper system
27. Airplanes equipped with both inboard and outboard ailerons normally use the outboard
ailerons only during low speed operations. This is mainly because?
*Aerodynamics load on the outboard ailerons tends to twist the wingtips at high speed.
28. In order to change the attitude or altitude or direction of the aircraft while autopilot is
engange the pilot?
*Both actions A and B can be applied.
29. Movement of the cockpit control towards the nose down position during a ground
operational, check of the elevator trim tab system will cause the trailing edge of the trim to
move in which direction?
*Upward regardless of elevator position
30. During flight, an aircraft that is yawing to the right, considerably the aircraft would having
tendency to fly?
*Right wing low, the leading wing(left wing) has increase lift therefore causing it to rise.
31. If the travel of an airplane controls is corrected but the cables are rigged exceptionally
tight, what probable effects will this have when flying the airplane?
*The aircraft will be heavy on the controls.
32. The type of flight controlthat generally used in decreasing lift to allow a controlled descent
without the reductions of airspeed are known as?
*Ground spoiler and speed brakes.
33. NIL
34. The life of the aircraft structure is counted by?

1. (Picture below)
2. Explain ‘Integral Gust Locks’ functions and describe briefly its operations.
Function- aircraft are fitted with a flying control locking system so that the controls can be
locked for the purpose of parking, picketing or mooring the aircraft.
Operation- commonly operated by a handle fitted in the flight deck and connected to a
movable locking pin by a cable system. When in operation the pins are pushed into the
locked position by passing through the holes in pulley/quadrant which lock the control
system and prevent its movement due to winds loads.

4. From the figure shown below describes the types of cable cross section diameter.
A- Single wrap straight
B- Double wrap straight
C- Single wrap spiral
D- Double wrap spiral

5. Refering from the figure below(Figure 4)

A- What type of secondary flight control shown?
-Balance panel

B- Explain in general the purpose and operations?

- Balance panel are commonly use on large aircraft in assisting the pilot in moving the
ailerons due to size of the ailerons and speed of aircraft( as speed increases moving
the ailerons are much harder). The ailerons are attached to a hinge balance panel
that forms a moveable partition for the sealed compartment ahead of the ailerons.
When the pilot tends to move the ailerons and the ailerons are deflected upward the
air over the bottom surfaces speed up and produces a low pressure below the
balance panel. Therefore the low pressure created pulls the balance panel down and
puts a force on the leading edge of the ailerons in such a direction that it will assist
the pilot in holding the aileron in the period when the ailerons are in deflected
upward position.
