CERTIFICATE OF STRUCTURAL STABILITY
Site Code/ID : 978
Site Name : SINGALONG
Location : Felisa Bldg., Pres. Quirino Ave., Malate, Manila
Date : June 18, 2019
This is to certify that our office EFB Geostrukt Inc. has conducted a structural evaluation of
the existing tower of 978_SINGALONG, a Smart Communications Inc. cell site with a 18m 3‐
legged roof top SST located at Felisa Bldg., Pres. Quirino Ave., Malate, Manila.
The structural members of the existing antenna support structure with the antenna loads
listed in the “Antenna Loading Summary” were evaluated in accordance with the minimum
load and design provisions of the National Structural Code of the Philippines (NSCP 2015,
7th Edition) and Telecommunications Industry Association Standards (ANSI/TIA‐222‐G‐
2005). Along with the following considerations the structure with retrofitting was found to
be ADEQUATE to support the proposed and additional antenna upgrade.
1. Site location basic wind velocity of 270 Kph for Occupancy Category I Exposure B
2. The structural pipe members all conforms with ASTM A53 standard and ASTM A36 for steel
plates and other sections.
Additionally, the immediate members of the building frame that is affected by the poles and globe
equipment have satisfactorily met the minimum strength and serviceability requirements set forth
by the following governing codes:
• Concrete compressive strength at 28 days assumed at 21 Mpa (3000 Psi).
• Reinforcing bars yield strength assumed at 414Mpa (60000 Psi) for all members.
• National Structural Code of the Philippines 2015 7th Edition
• Structural Standard for Antenna Supporting Structures and Antennas (TIA‐222‐G)
• American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC)
• American Concrete Institute (ACI Publications)
This certification is issued upon the request of SMART COMMUNICATIONS INC. for
whatever purpose it may serve them.

I. TOWER STRUCTURAL EVALUATION
I.A. Executive Summary
978_SINGALONG
18M 3L‐RT SST 270KPH_B
1. INTRODUCTION
The structural design review of the existing 18sm 3-Legged SST located at Felisa Bldg.,
Pres. Quirino Ave., Malate, Manila conducted by the undersigned upon the commission
of SMART Communication Inc.
The main objective of the design review and appraisal is to determine the structural
integrity of the existing tower and foundation affected by the proposed antenna upgrade.
2. SCOPE OF WORK
The existing cell site is a roof deck structure. It is an 18m high 3-legged self-supporting
tower that will support the additional antenna upgrade of Smart Communication Inc.
The. The tower is currently supporting 3 – 12 Ports antenna, and 3 –BTS antenna.
The proposed antenna upgrade of the project is installing of 3 – 2.3 MM (MIMO), 1 –
1.2mø microwave antenna and dismantling of 3 –BTS antenna. The reserve antennas
considered are 3 – 2.6G MM(MIMO), 3 – 3.5G MM (MIMO) and 1 – 1.2m ø MW.
The tower analyzed with the help of MS TOWER software; loads based on the existing
antenna as surveyed and the load consideration provided by the client. The tower
anchorage was also analyzed using PROKON software.
Based on the preceding, the existing 18m 3-legged self-supporting tower is
INADEQUATE to support the current and additional loads of the project. The most
stress member of the tower is the main bracing at panel 7 with demand over the
capacity ratio of 1.98. Nevertheless, tower anchorage and baseplate are ADEQUATE.
The tower is subjected to retrofitting analysis with maximum UR of 82% on horizontal
member. Hence the tower is ADEQUATE.
EFB GEOSTRUKT INC.
978_SINGALONG
18M 3L‐RT SST 270KPH_B
The roof deck structural system consists mainly of the concrete member section and
concrete slab carrying the floor loads. The beams are interconnected to the concrete
column sections, thus providing a regular pattern of the beam and column layout. Based
on the analysis, the beams and column directly supporting the antenna supporting
structures have the adequate capacity to support the additional loads of the project and
meets the minimum design requirement for strength and serviceability as specified by
the local code.
Roof beams were evaluated considering the area of reinforcement is not less than the
minimum ACI code requirement and not over the maximum area of reinforcement as
prescribed by the said code. Final assumption of reinforcement shall take into account
that under the original service load, the beam passed the criteria for the allowable
deflection.
The columns were evaluated considering the minimum ACI Code provision having a
steel ratio to the cross-sectional area of the member of not less than 1% and were also
6. CONCLUSION& RECOMMENDATIONS
From the structural investigation of the existing 18m 3-Legged Self-Supporting Tower, it
observed that the tower with retrofitting will be complied with the minimum strength
requirements of the NSCP 2015 (7th Edition) and TIA-222-G.
The existing superstructure needs to be reinforced and modified to comply with the
minimum strength and serviceability requirements by the proponent and related
governing design codes and standards.
