III. THE FUTURE TENSE

There are four kinds of the Future Teense, they are :

a. The Simple Future Tense


b. The Future Continuous Tense
c. The Future Perfect Tense
d. The Future Perfect Continuous Tense

III.a. The Simple Future Tense ( Using shall/ will + infinitive)

1. Diana will go to Bandung tomorrow morning.


2. I will return your novel this afternoon.
3. This woman will clean your room.
4. You’ll meet the person in ten more minutes.
5. It will probably rain in February.
6. They will pass that examination.
7. Brandy will come here after he has finished his work.
8. She will be the next leader of the week.
9. I shall be in Australia next year.
10. Aini will clean your room.

III.b. The Future Continuous Tense (shall/will+be+verb-ing)

1. This time next week I will be sun-bathing in Bali.


2. By Christmas I will be skiing like a pro.
3. Just think, next Monday you will be working in your new job.
4. He'll be coming to the meeting, I expect.
5. I guess you'll be feeling thirsty after working in the sun.
6. You'll be missing the sunshine once you're back in England.
7. Will you be bringing your friend to the pub tonight?
8. Will Jim be coming with us?
9. Will she be going to the party tonight?
10. Will I be sleeping in this room?

III.c. The Future Perfect Tense (shall/will +have+past participle)

1. She will have left work at 4.45 pm.


2. They will have stayed at the Frangipani Villa until Sunday.
3. I will have finished the homework by the time my mom gets home.
4. You will have done the same work for 5 years.
5. They will not have started the meeting until their boss comes to the office.
6. He will not have spent all the money before holiday ends.
7. She will not have passed the test until she can answer all of the questions.
8. Will she have done the project by 10 o’clock tonight?
9. Will the children have gone to bed when we arrive home?
10. Will the shop have closed by 11 o’clock tonight?

III. d. The Future Perfect Continuous Tense

1. I don't think it's coming. Soon we'll have been waiting an hour for the bus.
2. Next week I will have been working here for 20 years!
3. In a little while I will have been listening to them say the same thing for
almost an hour.
4. This summer they'll not have been living here for even a year.
5. I'll not have been running long enough to try a marathon this year.
6. She will not have been working a year before she goes on maternity leave.
7. Will the kids have been eating better by their next doctor's appointment?
8. Will they have been waiting a long time for us?
9. Where will your mother have been staying before she moves in August?
10. What will the professor have been teaching by the mid-term?
