Very Short Answer Questions (1 Mark each) :
1. Find the number of polynomials having zeros - 2 and 5.
2. If one zero of the polynomial f(x) = (k2 + 4) x2 + 13x 4k is multiplicative inverse of the other, then find k.
3. If the product of two zeros of the polynomial 2x3 + 3x2 – 5x – 6 is 3, then find its third zero.
Short Answer Question (2 Marks each) :
4. Find the value of k such that the quadratic polynomial: 3x2 + 2kx + x – k – 5 ,has, the sum of zeros is half
of their product.

– α2/β and – β2/α.
12. Given that the zeros of the cubic polynomial x3 – 6x2 + 3x + 10 are of the form a, a + b, a + 2b for some
real numbers a and b, find the values of a and b as well as the zeros of the given polynomial.
13. If 1 and – 1 are zeros of polynomial Lx4 + Mx3 + Nx2 + Rx + P, show that :
L + N + P = M + R = 0.

Chapter 1- Chemical Reactions and Equations
Type I. Short Answer Type Questions:-
1. A student dropped few pieces of marble in dilute hydrochloric acid in a test tube. The gas evolved was
passed through lime water. What change would be observed in lime water? Write chemical reaction for
both the changes observed.
2. Aastha has been collecting silver coins and copper coins. One day she observed a black coating on
Silver coin and a green coating on copper coin. Write the chemical name and formula for these black
and green coatings.
3. Rahul left his old bicycle in open for few days during rainy season. He saw deposition of a brown
coating on his bicycle. He told his father about the brown coating. What do you think his father must
have suggested for preventing the further coating of the brown substance give any two suggestions.
4. A student burnt a metal ‘A’ found in the form of ribbon. The ribbon burnt with dazzling flame and a
white powder ‘B' is formed which is basic in nature. Identify ‘A' and ‘B’ and write the balanced chemical
equation.
5. A compound X is used for drinking and has pH equal to 7, its acidified solution undergoes
decomposition in the presence of electricity to produce gases Y and Z. The volume of Y is doubled
then Z. which is highly combustible whereas Z is a supporter of combustion. Identify X, Y and Z. Write
the chemical reaction involved.

conductor is at higher potential? Why?
2. Resistance of an incandescent filament of a lamp is comparatively much more than that when it is at
room temperature, why?
3. What happens to the resistance of a wire if it is made thinner?
Type II. Short Answer Type Questions:-
1. Draw a schematic diagrams of an electric circuit comprising of 3 cells and an electric bulb, ammeter,
plug-key in the ON mode and another with same components but with two bulbs in parallel and a
voltmeter across the combination .
2. How much current will an electric bulb draw from 220V source, if the resistance of the bulb is 1200Ω?
If in place of bulb, a heater of resistance 100 Ω is connected to the source, calculate the current drawn
by it.
4. Two metallic wires A and B of the same material are connected in parallel. Wire A has length l and
radius r, wire B has a length 2l and radius 2r. Calculate the ratio of the equivalent resistance in parallel
combination and the resistance of wire A.
5. The voltage-current (V-I) graph for a conductor at two different temperature T 1 and T2 is shown. At
which of the two temperatures the resistance of the conductor is higher? Justify your answer.
